Quests

One of the elements of Era that I'm least happy with at the moment is the quests.

I don't like the idea of walking into one room, killing a bunch of buggy baddies, then walking into another room and doing the same thing, rinse and repeat 3 or 4 times, and then gaining 10 max health for it.
It's too boring, too short, there are too few of them and they have too much of an effect.

I don't think quests should be so linear and confined.

It should be more like:

Part 1: You go to the mission house, talk to the fat crime boss.
He tells you to go to the prison and talk to his guy who just got busted.
You go to the prison, talk to the guy, go back to the crime boss, he pays you $100. Sweet.

Part 2: The crime boss asks you to sneak something into prison for his man, so you sneak into the prison through the vents and drop the item into the right cell. You go back to the boss and get $200.

Part 3: The crime boss tells you that another inmate is giving his man trouble, so you go into the prison, punch some guards to get locked up. All your weapons are temporary gone, so you need to punch the other inmate to death. The next morning you get released, go back to the boss and collect $300. And now you can get a mobster hat whenever you want.

Part 4: The boss asks you to break his guy out of prison, so you bust in through the vents again, go to the control room and open all the cells. And then you have to get from the contol room to gen pop, fighting a few guards and prisoners along the way, then make your way out of the prison, probably through the sewers or something. You go back to the boss and you finally get a health boost of like 2 health or something and $500.

Also, more puzzle-y quests, and challenge based things like "dodging explosions in a room for 60 seconds while 5 NPCs on a balcony above you throw grenades at you", etc. etc.

I agree.
Except, we need A LOT of quests like that.

You'd need 10 whole chains, giving 2 hp per chain, for a total of 120 hp.

Make a dodge bullet quest with a minimum score, like that NPC thing Hachi and Vulcan made where you dodge those bullets for practice.

Thats a good idea, I don't really play Era as much anymore, but i too am unhappy with the quests. While they are fun, we need some like yours.
Each with a different situation etc.

Why do modern servers have quests anyway?

I agree with what you said for the most part, it's slightly more realistic than going down a 3-mile ladder, opening some books, avoiding spots on the floor that cage you, weaving through clouds, choosing teleporters, killing ninjas, and then drinking a potion.

Modern servers should call them missions or something. Quests seem better for classic servers. But yeah, you need something like that to do. I love getting in a big party and taking on enemies. They need to make them challenging, where you need several members to beat it.

I like the ideas youve got for missions/quests, I dunno if its just me but I really dont like the current ones, but with all the overpowered guns is hp gain from quests really worth all the work?

Man this is great, good luck :)

Does anyone really like quests/missions anyway? No one is ever getting an exciting thrill by completing quests on Era, and the only real reason anyone does it is for the health... I think a lot of people don't play Era simply because they do not want to waste time on getting the extra health boost.

Raid, your wrong. I didn't do the Quests because of my health. I was doing them with my friends, and having fun. The Zombie Quest was pretty long, I really liked it. The Ninja Quest too..

That's how it is now, but it wasn't always like that, and it won't be like that in the future.

Wouldn't this turn Era into a Modern RPG with tons of PvP?

Era has had quests for a very long time, we're just expanding on them so they're not so lame.

I was here when the quests were introduced, or was there some before 06/07?
