Graal: Windows Mobile

Why not?
Besides, the codes all there (For those who don't know, the API is the same, give or take a few phone/touchscreen specific additions built into the API, and a few PC-only things removed) and most of these phones support keyboards and mice. Atleast just to have it as a novelty, it won't be a hassle to compile :)

Plus I'd love to dev on the go, and I hate the iPhone so yeah... :3

I would have sided with you, but you just had to say you hated the iPhone :frown:

I don't think this will happen soon.

Not quite. The Windows CE API handles a lot of things differently. A large amount of the code would have to be rewritten to make even simple things work, as well as Direct3D Mobile being pretty cut down, and also that a lot of Windows Mobile devices don't have graphics accelerators (Intel 2700G for instance) so it would be horrendously slow.

It would maybe be more worthwhile seeing if you can write some sort of C# RC interface and see if Stefan is prepared to put the networking code into it afterwards. A whole client port is not that straight-forward.

Ye dewd that wuz rewd.

But yeah, I have a Windows Mobile :o Pantech Duo using AT&T.
Maybe just an RC, but that's it. I wouldn't want Graal on my phone xD except if it was an iPhone...

linkoraclehero 07-24-2008 09:39 PM

Well in that case, if Stefan doesn't mind, I will work on porting RC to Windows Mobile sometime soon. It's worth passing by him, seeing as he won't have to do any of the work. Irrlicht has a WM wrapper now, could just steal the code from it :P

Stefan could make a C# compatible DLL file (I forgot exactly what they're called) that has functions for sending and recieving the RC data like how sendtext() and requesttext() works. Then the C# application could just use that and you have a working and customizeable RC.

I really want a more organized comments system.

Well I'm going to work on it now, mostly just getting logging in, server list, and chat working. I think I may avoid any true administrative rights since it may be dangerous.

Just as a suggestion, I don't think they will accept an RC tool not made by Cyberjoueurs simply because that would be to much of a security risk.

Well if you REALLY want graal on the go, set up a remote desktop server on your PC and get one of the clients for Windows Mobile. I did that while on vacation in ohio with the only internet being from my phone connected to my Pocket PC...

Just curious what type of PPC do any of you have? I have a HP iPaq Travelcompanion. Was good back in the day, not its out of date.

Having used Windows Mobile a lot, generally winmo devices are not robust enough to run Graal-esque games.
