Came back after a year, made a level...

and it sucks imo, but I posted it here to see what I need to improve (pretty much everything, I suck at detailing and making paths.). Also, this level is less detailed than my first ones, for the ones who remember them.

Reason why it's so messy is because I found new things to add AFTER I was done with the paths and detailing -_- so I had to add them without destroying stuff, heh. I probably raped the flower and grass tiles xD

EDIT : Made an inside as well. Not too happy with it, feels like I could do more with it (detailing wise.). At least it's not ginormous :P Was going to add some light effects, but I forgot how to make the whole level darker so the lights would actually help..

Eek. Enough dirt patches there?

You really like to use the same tiles over and over, don't you.

I noticed the same thing in your inside level that you did in your outside, there's 6 windows in there. o___o;

I guess we wont have to worry if the place catches on fire, but it hardly looks like there would be 6 people in there anyway.

Trees are alright, you seem to have those down.

Your detailing is rather unattractive. You have blocking tiles (mushrooms) in the middle of the road, that is the most annoying detail related thing anyone can do in my opinion.

You need to work a bit on your styling and smoothen out your sand.

3.5/10, but you seem to be a beginner so just keep working at it. :)

The inside level looks ok. The red parts of the floor are ugly. The walls are alright, I like the top right bit. Overall it's very plain though, there's nothing in it!

4/10

Didn't know which tiles to use instead of windows. Looked repetitive no matter how I did xD same with the forest. I don't know how else to detail large maps. There aren't enough "detailing tiles" to fill a whole level, thus the use of the same tiles over and over.

Also, about the house. We have 16 windows in our apartment xD

Ah, thank you :P Yeah, I've always sucked at detailing. Both insides and outsides. Didn't know what to put in there, so I went with the "poor old dude living on the 1500's" feeling.

I agree with Crono indefinitely about the blocking tiles in the walking areas. Nothing kills a level's attraction more than having to constantly dodge mushrooms while trying to walk through it. That is so annoying. Keep that stuff out of the way near the trees.

The most important thing to think about when designing a level is how well it can be played, not how well it looks.

Alright, I'll keep that in mind. If I do that though, people will go "LOL WHERE'Z AER TEH DETAILSZ?!" :P

And you can say, right there! Near the trees! ... where it should be :)

I don't think I've ever given a 10/10 out. I consider my own levels to be 6/10, and I think the highest I've ever given is like 8/10 or 9/10 to one of Wan's levels.
