Well, some of you may be wondering what's going on with Utopia.

Truth is, I don't play graal very much anymore.

Thus, is why I appointed Chris to Co-Manager to keep on developing the server.

I will still come on and see progress every once in a while but really, I probably wont be spending an assload of time on it, like I used to.

It was more of a comment that, as people see it, Ork has been destroying Utopia, I'm the only one who actually did things on it, and now people are saying that I should be the owner.

Not Aeko, but I've talked to other people. But, I really don't care about being co-manager; Ork would not fire me anyway.

I plan to remake Utopia from the ground up. Hopefully at the end I will have a fine project which isn't an Era clone.

Maybe make a Communist-USSR server, like a fight against communism with an underground group? :D:D:D

If you'd have READ the thread, than you would have known that I am completely remaking Utopia: there will be no abusive staff, I will likely be the only scripter as I work best alone (and there are few decent scripters willing to work on UC servers) ... I will also be the "Manager" meaning in charge of the development. Ork will still be the owner of course, meaning that he oversees things, but as far as I know I will be the one in charge of the development.

Hopefully I can find a team of staff that are non-abusive (aka LATs that don't need change attributes :rolleyes:)

good luck getting staff that don't ask for rights. I'm a GANI Admin, i know how people are when they get their boots.

That would technically be a playerworld scam. It's been recorded here that chris is in charge of the server. If suddenly the guy that made everything gets fired when the going is good. It'll raise a red flag.

I won't have staff boots, they only lead to abuse. If anything, they'll be for ETs when they are hosting something where they need them (not likely).
No, believe me. If there's one person I trust would NEVER fire me, it's Ork (after Jave, of course).
No, he wouldn't. Ork bans and abuses like nobodies business (sorry if you're reading this Ork!), but he would not fire me.
Yes, but hardly anyone reads the forums. PLUS, as PWA have stated, it'd be my own damn fault.


Update for Utopia (May 27, 2008):
-GUI is almost completed. Completely redesigned to incorporate message system and chat system.
-Fishing system almost completed.
-HP/Killing system completed.
-Time system (to be used for restocking) completed.

I will be looking for LATs and possibly GATs in the near future! Until this time, no screenshots will be posted.

After reading this idea I had a sudden idea for staff power(not particularly for this server):
Have two modes -- on duty and off duty.

-On duty disables all item usage(basically, no ability to fight). It also makes you invincible, non-blocking, and disables your GUI. On the other hand, it enables your staff tools and tag.
-Off duty would... well basically remove your tag and staff tools, and treat you like a regular player, and also return you to the last position you enabled your On Duty.

Of course, there are a lot of systems like this on servers, but none really get too extensive, and still allow them to attack and stuf... I think a system like this would remove really any ability to abuse powers.

That can still lead to abuse but enabling and disabling it after shooting someone or something.

We had something like this on Utopia; it doesn't work at all. The only way to prevent staff abuse is for the staff to not abuse.

That's why you clearly do some sort of check. A timer would be sufficient.

In addition to what I said (bad request when trying to edit :\), I haven't been able to contact Ork. I seriously haven't talked to him for over two weeks.

Sad because I'd like to discuss some ideas and get some input with him to get permission for some new ideas.

Sounds interesting enough. I will lat for you and only you. I will not listen to ork. But what you are talking about Chris sounds promising. So if you ever decide to hire lats then hire me sometime. And give me a heads up because I have been busy in rl to pay attention to little posts :P

I thought that for a long time back when i worked there.. then he banned me for telling him to do his own personal work.

Ork does have a bit of an anger problem. But it doesn't mean anything except that he is a bad manager. Get off his back like I have and maybe he might be a better person. And Ryyan since you are GFX Admin or w/e on Aeon then why you worried about a UC server?

You don't realize that I've worked with Ork for over five years and we've never had problems.

Trust me, Ork would not take control of it/fire me.
Hopefully Ork won't come out and ruin it once I finish it ;)

I agree with the Anger and the Manager problem. But, honestly, being a manager for that **** was incredibly stressful. It's not easy to deal with a **** staff team and a bunch of players at the same time.

I wont Chris. I know you care about Utopia. I only want what's best for it. Good luck. :)
