It has come to my attention that every user can set their "homepage" in their Forums profile to whatever they wish - without moderatorial approval. As such you could easily set your "home page" to anything which may not be approved by the moderation here.

With that in mind I invite you to vist my homepage - click my name to the top left of this post and then click "Visit Stephen's Homepage!".

Very nice :)

Some good photos on your homepage.

See my homepage for tech help (it's been there for ages)

STICKIN IT TO DA MAN!!!!!

Darlene159 05-11-2008 03:09 AM

Really, Stephen?
Is it really allowed without moderation?
Who told you that, unixmad? Stefan?
Seriously?
Dont be ridiculous.

Obviously, if unixmad is allowing that option, then people are allowed to put their homepage there, unless he states otherwise, but without moderation?
Really, I would like to know where you get your information.

"Stickin it to da man" indeed.
Gee, thanks for pointing this out to everyone....I sure do appreciate it.

It's quite shameful to see how petty you behave. My comments were speculation only, and not "commands" or certainties.

I was stating that "home pages" have gone unnoticed for a long time and likely unpoliced on account of that. :whatever:

You could have used a forum PM if that were the case, but you are too busy trying to make moderators look foolish.
No worries, I will direct unixmad to this thread, and he can inform me what he wishes to do...maybe he will remove that option since you wanted to point it out.

Edit> Sent unixmad a message.

You better be careful. Didn't you ever hear that Flickr will give you viruses if you're not nice to it?

Inverness 05-11-2008 03:49 AM

Sarcasm: Thanks for pointing that out Stephen.

I could have, yes - and I imagine nothing would have been done. Making it public knowledge makes sure something is done. If you think I'm out to make you look foolish perhaps you're insecure - whatever it is, I'm not interested and it's none of our business.

Pardon my interests in Graal which supersede you. >_<

It is possible to formulate sentences on the internet so that they're conveyed as sarcasm without actually announcing the fact, FYI. :p

True, but I felt it was necessary to compensate for some people's inability to understand sarcasm in text. Those people don't include yourself. :p

Pandering to the masses is a duty strictly for the feeble ;)

In your opinion.

I consider it being gracious on my part.

You only see the link when you click on the name, so it's less a problem than when posting it. We are still filtering them from time to time.

Why is it a problem anyway?

My earlier post about the Flickr virus was sarcasm.

Obviously they have to be watched for inappropriate links.
The links are just not in the open like they would be in a thread, post, or signature, so people don't click on said links as much, or even see them. That's why they are not as big of a problem.

Seriously, what other MMO forums don't allow link posting?

What forums don't allow link posting?

This rule is completely idiotic. There is nothing stopping us from posting a link. I could post a link to an inappropriate website, and it would be up until one of you saw it just as it would if it was allowed.

Dumb repetitive response.

I am sure unixmad has his reasons...ask him.

Stephen 05-11-2008 08:48 PM

This wasn't about the rule, it was the obscurity of the link - and that it is probably very infrequently moderated. My assumption was that the obscurity of it likely meant there was a good chance there was many "unapproved" links which essentially get posted with every post.

Any assumptions outside of this were entirely unrelated to the point I was trying to make.

I did, I PMed him a while back.

He did not respond, of course.

This topic is nothing but a fight.
Why do people develop everything to an argument now?
Don't people have better things to do then start Graalama.

I don't mean to sound condescending, but have you looked around lately? No, there really isn't much else to do on Graal.

That wasn't my intent - it just got dragged in that direction. Ironically, it was by the moderator that's supposed to prevent this sort of stuff. :\

Would perhaps be more ironic if it didn't always happen; nowadays all the Graal staff take everything at face value.

Someone might post a link to a free mmorpg that's better than graal. I seriously think that's the reason. Why can't you talk about other mmorpgs like runescape on forums because graal would lose the 10 players it has.

Why are you even still here? You bring this attitude to every thread you post it, and it's obvious you don't like the game. :\

DustyPorViva 05-12-2008 03:05 AM

Simple. Disallow linking to other MMO's... it's what most MMO's forums do.

No need to be so negative

I was saying that there is nothing stopping people from linking at the moment.

Where did I say I didn't like the game? Post your opinion on why they don't allow external links.

YOU didn't say it, your ATTITUDE did - multiple times.

I share the general opinion on it, there, I posted it.
