Fix the new forum accounts

Let them use their community name as a forum name, the whole e-mail stuff sucks. If they dont have one, let them assign one before they join the forums.

Yeah, I agree. I was thinking of bringing this up too. The thing is, the accounts system is confusing the players because it's allowing people to log in with their e-mail addresses, but they've got their community names too. Many players have registered with their community names, but there seems to be a few who are registering with their e-mail addresses, and it seems to be increasing.

They should just place a filter on accounts in VBulletin Options to disable the e-mails from being registered here (it'd be kind of obvious if there was one that you need to register with your community name) and change the e-mail accounts registered to their community names -- it'd be much nicer.

Hmm I mentioned this to Stefan ago, he mentioned that probably email addresses should not be able to register, so community names would make a lot more sense. Seems nothing has been done with it though.

Hmmm how do you actually login to the forums with an email. When I try to create an account using one of my email addresses then it's always saying that the user name is not correct, and is not even checking if the account is existing or so. Is there some trick?

Crow 04-14-2008 09:01 PM

Should ask some of the people who are actually doing it I guess.

Anyone found out yet?

When I get a chance, I'll ask Andrew how it worked with him with the [email protected] account he used to pose as a female with. Last I spoke to him was a few hours ago, and aparently he was going to work, so I'll talk to him via MSN when I can and maybe get him to post here. (Assuming someone who reads this doesn't maybe get to him before me)

I believe that if you register with a regular user account, it automatically registers the e-mail account....

[email protected] 04-16-2008 04:04 PM

.... like so

[email protected] 04-16-2008 06:36 PM

I just created an account and it said that my username was my email, I input the email here and then it was activated. ^^^^^^

Admins 04-16-2008 07:44 PM

It's not automatically creating another account, only 11 of such accounts currently exist. Whenever I try to register it tells me "That username is already in use or does not meet the administrator's standards" although the email is not used, that's why I'm asking if there is some trick.

Did you try using the communityname to create it? Maybe its then creating an account which will be named after your e-mail.

When I first registered, I used my e-mail as the username. I'm not sure as to why this is so, but I guess its just a random problem. Of all those 11 accounts, what times were they registered at?

All times are GMT +2. The time now is 02:34 PM.
