Another one of those threads.
Before I get ready for some 5vs5 on WoW I thought I'd post something here from my PoV.
Graal Kingdoms. When I first started I was amazed by the possibilities to change your character as you went down the leveling road (as well as gearing but that's not new.) I spent time rerolling to have perfect starting stats. Of course I rolled a barbarian. They are brutal melee fighters who hit hard and leave nothing but a rotting carcass behind. This was the way to go. I started leveling my physique as this was the main skill of the barbarian (according to me). As I leveled I picked up some magic books and prayers and realized I could level these skills as well. This opened up a lot of opportunities, like making a melee/caster hybrid or a priest/monk kind of character. This is what I fell in love with. You could create the perfect character. Highest level in all skills and stats, making it a god-like kind of character. The years went by and I made my way to the maximum base-level: 110. I grinded my way to level 50 Physique (well it was actually a grind between level 27 and 50 physique, seeing as I leveled 20-27 using the wisdom bug.) Of course leveling wasn't everything. You had to have the best gear available as well. This was not in my reach really so I settled with the basic stuff, netting me the 30 30 27 stats (str, dex, con). As for RPing I never really liked it. I did it a couple of times but I can't say I enjoyed it that much. I took the other road and started practicing sparring. I enjoyed it and it brought a whole new challenge to the game. Instead of beating the AI I could now beat the actual players, the ones who I had looked up to when I watched them from outside the spar arena. I'll admit that I'm not the best of pkers on GK but I consider myself fairly good. Anyway.. As the playerbase dropped and the BModers left I was one of the few people left who played to fight other players. Logging on to do the /who command, looking for an innocent lowbie in BMode to kill, or to challenge a player of equal gear and level to spar for an hour or so. This eventually got boring and I quit the game. A couple of months later I came back looking for another aspect of the game to explore. I figured I could combine PKing and RPing to a certain extent. This seemed like a nice idea and I stopped worshipping Bile and found new faith in Brigid, the godess of peace. This god wasn't really fit for my mission but I figured I could put a little twist to this seemingly boring godess. Instead of being the typical melee character, which was kind of one-sided, I made my character a melee/caster hybrid. Other than adding a bit of colour and flavour to PKing this wasn't much of a change really. I stayed for a couple of weeks but eventually quit again. I was done with GK. In my opinion I had beat the game. The goals I had set up were all reached and there was nothing left for me to do. It was fun while it lasted. This is my story. I just felt like sharing it with the rest of the community. Feel free to share your stories too. |
Before I get ready for some 2v2 on WoW I thought I'd post something here from my PoV.
I started playing GK, got hooked up with a guy playing a girl, got some items from "her", leveled to level 13, stayed level 13 for like a year and a half, got a bunch of gear, sold it, leveled to 21, got a bunch of gear, sold it. Quit, came back like a year later, got gear, sold it, leveled to 40, got gear... Continue to lame the doors outside bomboria because it is one of the only ways to PK for someone who hasn't abused a bug to level at all. THAR IS WHAR I AM NOW! |
