Codein has a server.

What this is is an invitation to those in Developers Circle to join up and get some hands-on experience actually working on a server. Right now we have a server, but it isn't for working, just for learning so it will never give you that kind of experience.

The project as of now has no direction, no plans, or anything like that, its completely open to new ideas. So not only will you be working on the actual content, but you will also have a chance to mold what it will be.

You will get a chance to experience what it is like to work with others, work under others, plan, have deadlines and perhaps learn from it... and if unlucky, get fired as well. Remember, this is a job on a server as much as it is a learning experience, I just have a feeling it won't be as rough, and you'll probably get many more chances than you would any other server. Not only that, but you will get to work with the more experienced developers of Graal hopefully and learn a few tricks of the trade you help you along your way.

There will be some sort of hierarchy for this as everyone is on different levels. But as of now, this isn't my project, this is Codein. So, I can't elaborate on rules or such as I'm not sure what he has in mind, I'm just bringing this to everyone in DC's attention. If you're interested and in DC, just go ahead and post here. I'll say wait until Codein posts with more details before you start asking questions/PMing him. I don't know anything more than this so please don't ask me. I might be on the project, I might not.

I've been invited to help out. ^^ Although I'm not in the Dev circle, I basically manage #gdeveloper by myself z.z;

I've already pitched two ideas for the server.

-Side scrolling RPG (Think Maplestory ;p )
-Shooter (Think Counterstrike)

These of course are not very original ideas, but would be a little unique to graal itself, both being fun as well. :)

(But then again, what is original anymore? z.z )

Possibly when enough ideas have been thrown around, we'll make a poll or something to decide the premise.

The hierarchy will be decided once there's enough people on board. Just PM me if you're in.

No, I'm going to have it so that only a couple of people have access to the main folders and what not.

Smart. Some people may be hackers and just want to join a guild and try to help out. I would but college is gettin in my way.

One last call for anyone interested before planning goes ahead. Please note, Circle members can come as they please after the planning but you won't get a say in the premise, so it's much recommended you work for the project from day one.

I would be careful who you give rights to. Until they prove themselves, give them rw WEAPONS/Chris/* etc

a) I know he's an avid anti-theftist.

b) There's no scripts on the server anyway

c) I doubt he'd wanna lose his well built reputation in the community for a small project like this.

Haha, my reputation only lasts in the forums where people in the scripting section generally know I don't steal.

Take a look at my ban history. For some reason people tend to ban me for stealing scripts. I remember when I was banned because Utopia's login message was on a different server, and the owner did not realize I had released it to the public :rolleyes:

But probably mostly low quality playerworlds, yes?

All low quality ;)

Utopia sucks in the first place though.

Im not going to say, but one amazing gfxer- is the only one i ever see on working. He's making you guys a tileset, and working on this server alone- while codein, your probably sitting with your friends getting high. I smoke and ****- but thats just ****ing stupid, if your going to make a server- help your workers.

Go somewhere else and stop flaming servers.

First Utopia, now this. Get the **** off Graal and get a life if you're just going to flame.

if you cant run a server, dont buy one, dont hire hardworking people who want a server to go places.

and for utopia, its a complete copy of era, and anyone from era can agree with that. You cant handle flaming, dont play graal.

You were on AEON sending mass messages about how the server is such a huge failure since it doesn't have more then 4 (5 with you) non-staff players online.

I didnt flame, people dont get that.

I am just saying, you cant get classic if you only have 4 people on. ITs not going to change when you go classic, besides for the first week.

And you need to point that out... why?
This is why the Graal community is mostly a pain in the ass to deal with. Everyone feels they are better, everyone thinks they know what's best for a server, that they can do it damn well and that they need to spread their 'knowledge' of success to everyone else.

How do you know a server won't get on classic with 4 players? Even though it's hosted, it's still under-construction... thus, there are more important things to do than focus on just content to keep players attached. Last I checked high player-count isn't a requirement to go from hosted to classic.

Whether you know it or not (and I'm going to assume that you are just pulling your information out of no where), you should not be bringing real life matters that have no relation to Graal into this.

Even if you are going out and doing drugs with your friends or just studying for school, the point is that you have priorities outside of Graal which should always take precedence.

Codein is a really cool guy, I have worked with him for a long time now. Even if he does smoke from time to time, he CAN and DOES handle a server at the moment. That Quian'Dor didnt work out had nothing to do with him..Hell it did work out, we just went a different direction!

So, shut up and gtfo

And erm. Just because someone has habits, why on EARTH would a project fail? I know that there are some great people supporting Codein in this project and it is turning out great as we stand now.

I just wanted to announce that I will provide my copyrights of The Olde Times to the project as soon as I can gather the files, but I demand some rights of quality assurance and a right to discuss the servers direction with codein/dusty ;).

Seeya, your, erm, pessimistic view of my project will only ever drive me forward even more.

Personally, I don't see how my personal life comes into this. From time to time, I may be on RC intoxicated with... certain herbs, but I'm still working, coming up with plans.

The only reason why there isn't a full team working yet is because I'm trying to come up with a plan of action, which is a must have for any project I work on.

Most of the Developers Circle members are preoccupied with their own/other server projects. Atleast you won't get dedicated ones. No offense but i dont see this project will last long.
