30-second wait for searching
Please remove the 30-second wait limit on searching (atleast when registered members search) ... it's extremely annoying when you're trying to find something.
I was trying to find the encryption example Skyld gave a while ago, and it took about an hour to find because I couldn't get the term he used. And I had to wait 30 seconds between each search. Please remove this, atleast for registered members! It's not like any paying costumer will spam searches, and if they do, suspend/infracture/ban them? Thanks! |
It's not there to piss people off, it's there to limit the strain it puts on retrieving the information you requested that matches things on the entire forums.

The only reason forum scripters added the time limit is to prevent server overloading.
Members will not overload it (If they do then as Chris said, bant :) ). Maybe set it to 15 seconds? |
It can easily overload it. Think of the huge amount of activity on these forums, can you imagine all those people doing searches at the same time???

I'd like to hear Stefan or Unixmad or Darlene post, I assume it wouldn't make a huge overload, but I don't know for sure. |

When I said (or wrote/typed) "forum scripters" I meant the makers of vBulletin. :P

The effect it has on the forums depends on the size of the database. Since we have 1.2 million posts stored, 30 seconds is just fine. I cant see any problem with it, either. Just play Tetris while waiting ;P

If it won't cause a problem, why have it?
It's really annoying when you have to find something ... |
It is there for a reason, to prevent overflow of traffic, i saves bandwidth.

How did you guys miss Dusty's sarcasm? You can easily tell from the three question marks how not serious he was!!!
