School started, a huge killer for all online games.

Ravenblade1979 10-05-2007 09:36 PM

Tigairius 10-05-2007 09:48 PM

I'm kind of just tired of being there with nothing to do.

Tell me when it's easier to level, speed on items go up, and it's not only that holiday items are good.

Gk's been on a steadily decline for awhile, I doubt these holidays are an incredible factor in the playercount.

That's fairly easy already. How easy do you want it to be? :\

GK and Zone died a while ago.

Once GK gets updated though, I bet you the player count will go up:D

MajinDragon 10-07-2007 12:35 AM

Well yea, school is a major factor, especially for me as it's my last year in secondary school (year 11) and i'm not going to waste any time. Yes, it's house parties and hitting the books, i really have no time for GK. And GK really has nothing to offer anymore, nothing new (that is any good) has actually been added for many years... actually, not since i started...

The GK levelling curve and speed system is very balanced... If you're having trouble or find it frustrating to level or gain 'speed items' i'd blame it on the lack of monsters and methods to gain items (aside from trading). Just wait until certain* staff members decide to actually breathe some life into GK.

Ya know certain people are doing stuff but there are a few of us who are trying to get a update out.

When was the last big update? Quit thinking that just because something major is finally being worked on that it's a sign from the Gods.

Googi 10-07-2007 04:35 AM

Updates don't/won't do much to increase playercount. Old players come back and check out the update, then once they've fully checked it out they get bored, stop playing, and go back to complaining about a lack of updates. Unless you're going to release updates every week, they aren't going to do much for playercount. 2K2 is already a server with content that gets people to play for 1000+ hours. It doesn't need more content, it needs to get and keep new subscribers.

Ravenblade1979 10-07-2007 05:59 AM

getting new subscribers is good but you need new content. GK only has so much then it gets boring to people.

It takes a pretty big piece of new content to get people to play for even 10 more hours than they would otherwise. The economy and core structure of the server is what's important for getting hundreds or thousands of hours from the players.

CABAL49 10-08-2007 01:49 AM

School is the main reason I have not been playing. It would be nice if my hours didn't tick away when I am not online.

lordbosh 10-08-2007 02:57 AM

Server needs a reset, yet stefan does not want one for some reason. Even though he doesn't play...

Because it wouldn't accomplish anything except to bring a few people back for a few more weeks and then have them leave again.

Because that may only bring in 6 people while losing the 20 active players

Until GK can survive without the need of constant staff attention, and by that i mean item distribution wise. I do not feel that a reset will accomplish anything other than restarting a 5 year cycle that will lead to the same conclusion we are faced with today.

1) Lack of updates
2) People complaining about lack of updates but when given a chance to help make new content totally blow it off with some dumb excuse (minus school) and then complain more about no new content.
3) No new items (yeah like we need the usders to come back again just for this)

Tigairius 10-08-2007 06:58 PM

Kind of tired of seeing the same reasons over and over again for why GK is failing... So let me put things in to perspective for you.

Initial Failure
  • GK was never completed to the standards that was planned.
  • The system was half-assed and borrowed from Crossfire.
  • Lack of talented trustworthy developers on Graal in general.
  • Lack of players on Graal, period.

Continuing the Reign
  • There has been several attempts at a ruined economy by several staff, including some of the current ones.
  • There have been little-to-no attempts at a working economy, sometimes communistic controlled-economies aren't going to save a server.
  • Lack of event prizes in ratio to the amount of players that played GK.
  • Lack of items which can be obtained outside of trading and events, of course, too many of these items would break the economy.

The Death of the Beginning
  • After 2006 rolled around, GK began tumbling faster than a boulder. With the lack of knowledgeable administration (one isn't enough [bjorn]) there was nothing to stop it.
  • Studies have shown that any economy that hasn't been stimulated drastically in some way, commonly fails and creates famine within the community. In the case of the US, the Great Depression is our stimulus, as for Germany and other European countries, I am not sure.
  • The economic values of GK have fallen, risen, and it's all controlled by a group of people, which is a controlled-economy. Controlled vs Free economies are always very due for unsuccessful results.

Now, Here We Are
  • After the lack of care, attention, and stimulus provided to the GK economy, here we are, scraping for something to keep players (FAQ, small 'battle island' updates, etc), none of which will do anything to help playercount grow.
  • Here we are scrambling to find the causes behind the true reason GK has suffered tremendously... I remember a couple years ago it never got this low during school time.
  • There are few-to-no people to blame for the irrepressible economic damage that has been caused, the blame goes to people for not doing anything to stop it.
  • These economic values can be fixed with careful planning and participation, but it won't be easy.

Are you ready to fix GK?

lordbosh 10-10-2007 01:29 AM

Tig for full developer, yet?

Switch 10-10-2007 01:45 AM

Monsters. We need more monsters with MORE Exp.
We also need to make it either a) easier to kill monsters or b) easier to get better armor.
We still ALSO need to get those Christmas and such items out to players so it's more fair. "I wasn't here for the stuff when it came out" isn't fair.

Don't be ridiculous.

Ravenblade1979 10-10-2007 04:21 PM

I agree with Tig on this. Its simple to get armor. Just make it in Bogenera. Easy monsters just pwn shell bomy's. If you want to pwn like evil heavils though you really should save up the dias to get the good armor and stuff.

Armour won't help much against Evilheavils.

Heh, thats not even half of the threads wanting staff to wave a magic wand. True GK has been going downhill, but with lack of time to be on the actual game activity is going to be VERY low for the next few months.

KyleNicholson 10-11-2007 07:24 AM

I was thinking of adding the sales of treasure maps in NPC shops be easier yet it would be more of a gamble trying to get brutals and immenses ;)

Well with these new servers, players are moving to that server and falling in the temptations of the NPC's and free items.

ViperZakuto 10-12-2007 08:59 PM

What GK really needs. Bosh is right gk needs to be reset. But he is also wrong... GK needs the bugs that are out there to be FIXED, not just disabled. Then, and only then, will a reset be good for the server.

I, myself, am tired of Staff removing stuff or limiting it just because they are spending too much time on Graal 3D, and don't have the time to fix it.

Also, Where were you Tig when I started a thread on who would like to actually fix GK's bugs and improve it's economy. I am not experienced in scripting so I can't do it. I was trying to pull together a team, that would actually put there time and effort to fix the game the love(d). once there is a team willing to fix it. Present said team to Stefan.

I guess nobody wants to fix it cause nobody replied.

Ravenblade1979 10-12-2007 09:59 PM

And me working my butt off to get new content out is doing what?? nothing in your eyes?

You would probably expect everyone saying "Yes it is!!" now, but I wont. Yea, I think its nothing. Well, not really nothing. But you cannot help GK if you just add things, you have to fix other things first.

Well, for one, I don't reply to every single thread, especially if I feel that the thread is useless, or just another "complain" thread. Other times I am simply not active in the forum community.

Well it just seems that nobody is willing to fix gk. I made a thread about graal putting together a special team for fixing bugs and thats all they should work on. Nobody that read the post replied to it... so i guess people that can fix it... want it to die. Well, maybe except for you.
