Camera Zoom

I know it is possible to change the x and y of Graal's Camera, but how about the z? Is there a way to do this?

zokemon 10-01-2007 12:20 AM

Flying tech. We've discussed this many many many times. No, it's not released.

Angel_Light 10-01-2007 12:22 AM

huh?

Admins 10-01-2007 12:27 AM

We should probably bring back something like the zoom in v2 (zoom in, not zoom out)

You mean when you would press alt + 7/8 or 8/9 (cant remember what it was)?

Angel_Light 10-01-2007 01:31 AM

yes that is what I mean, I remember zooming in v2 and was wonder if there were script commands to do that in V5?

zokemon 10-01-2007 06:17 PM

I would appreciate that Stefan. I've been wanting canvas zooming for a while now.

Kristi 10-01-2007 09:19 PM

God, yes. And not just zoom in either...which, of course, the flying tech uses.

Angel_Light 10-02-2007 01:27 AM

Has there been a release date for the flying tech?

It took me a little while to figure out what was going on. The idea is fantastic, but the effect could use some fine tuning. I think I was confused at first mostly because the tiles at the very top border of the hill made it seem like there is no height change.

DustyPorViva 10-02-2007 06:13 AM

I say scrap the idea. Changing one things zoom without anything else being effected only screws with the viewers minds. Nothing else appears larger as you go up the cliff so it's hard to really read what was happening. I think it looks fine in default. If you want to really pull off the effect you're going to have to do a lot of work drawing tiles that actually have their perspective change, as well as doing the difficult scripting of defining various levels of height.

coreys 10-02-2007 11:36 PM

This is 2D. No need for that.

There is too! :(

What wrong with challenging the Status Quo of Graal and implementing New Ideas?

No...no there isn't. That's just...just no, it's stupid. Just go full 3D...

Atexia is meant to be 2D but I still want to be able to do a canvas zoom in so that everything doesn't seem so shrinked. I'm SURE you have to agree with me there.

Why are you so ignorant to our thoughts? We dont want 3D we want a good 2D game ;]

DustyPorViva 10-04-2007 04:39 AM

Then my best advice is to not try to mimic 3D. Doing things like trying to discern height is a good idea, but never going to be executed well.
Though I'd love to see someone make a 3D server and just stick it with a predefined 3/4ths view camera angle.
