Swear Filter
 

Normally, I'm patient about this. Sometimes, I even play around to find out the bizarre and sometimes downright retarded letter combinations that trigger.

But tonight, I am not in a good mood. I am irritable, cranky, and very much ready to strangle something. Will someone PLEASE tell me which ***** coded the spellchecker to get cranky about "act of kindness"? I swear I am considering spamming the heck out of the swear filter from time to time until they start making it better.

Oh, and by the way... that starred word, isn't even considered a bad word after elementary school. I'll give you a hint. It's a more, and a ron.

I take it you are refering to the forums? Sometimes words may be added if they are used to insult people a lot, such as the starred word you tried to use to insult people. It was being used a lot. I am confused as to what else you are talking about though.

No, he is talking about the swearfilter of Graal Kingdoms. The swearfilter detects the part "of kindness" as an evading of the filter because of the "f" followed by "k"
We have always compromise on such word/letters. Just take the name "****" in "**** and Harry". You cannot say it here and in game just because it'S also use as a vulgar word and kids love to use it for harassment.
In geman its the meaning of fat/thick or gross.
I am sure it's not a big thing to find another phrase. ^^

-_-. Yeah, sorry for the rant. Everyone once in awhile I get in one of those moods and it really sets me. Especially when I get into a rather emotional or philosophical conversation with someone.

My opinion about implementing a swear filter?
Don't try to make the "ultimate swear filter" that will catch all forms of cursing and attempts to bypass it. Players WILL bypass it no matter what kind of complicated algorithm you put in because once they see that it blocks one attempt at bypassing, they'll find another way. Complicated swear filters only create problems for those who aren't even attempting to swear because it isn't as smart as it will ever need to be.
Block what is really a swear word, and perhaps a few well-known alternatives, and leave it at that. People will bypass it, there's nothing you can do about it.

I get problems with the swear filer when i'm rping mostly when i'm typing lots of text and it will block it and i don't even know what word it's blocking and it makes my rp look messy.

Yeah, the pm that got bounced was about the biggest you could make a pm and still send it. I literally had to sequentially break it down into sentence clusters, send them one at a time until the one in question flagged, then drill it down, then finally finish sending everything off.
