Graal 3D question!
 

Just wondering, could it be posible for graal 3D to go First Person Shooter!?

I think that would be great for upgraded 2D player worlds like Era.

Or just a first person slasher (I.E. oblivion).

I still say Graal will fail miserably once Graal 3D is released, the whole charm about Graal is that it's 2D.

But hey, that's MY oppinion.

However, Era as 3D? Oh please, go buy CS:S or something instead.

I'd see era as a third person shooter.

Because Graal is 2D, always has been - that's why most of us stay on it. Its unique, leave it this way.

Because its the same stuff with Zelda. Though it didnt really hurt Zelda, because a ton of people play it.

Zelda Ocarina of Time was (and still is) one of the best games I ever played, and I am sure a lot of RPG lovers agree, if you dont look at it graphics wise.

OOT was awesome, but it totally destroyed that typical Zelda feeling.

The Graal Development team is so small that even when graal is released on the 5th of never it will be extremely outdated and not worth the money compared to other MMORPGs.

If graal could go FPS then all styles of game play can be found on graal.

Think of it, you could make another halo (with bad graphics!)

We don't even know to what level the engine can render. Those videos could (and probably were) using old, low quality models but the engine could very well handle nice looking models.

To be honest, Graal 3D will be what the players developing do with it. I would love to make a 3D world, it'd be much easier to bring my ideas to life... but I think Graal 3D just won't be reasonably plausible in terms of cost, server usage, and developing time. I think they're going way over their head, being a one man business and one man developing team... it's just gonna crash. Over the years I'm sure countless hours have been spent on Graal 3D, and image how much better Graal would be if those hours were spent on it instead.

You haven't had the chance to play Graal3D. It's a more realistic project than you think.

They're already having problems with getting servers to run it. I wasn't saying it's unrealistic to get it done, but to keep it going. It seems like they're stretching too far without the resources. I've never seen a 3D MMORPG run without a full team and a lot of money behind it.

I think Graal 3d will be a great project and something new for graalians. I don't get why everyone one is so upset about the graal developers trying to make something 3D. If they don't try something new then everyone will complain. And if Graal 3d is bad, then hey, they tried it, it wasn't for them and they move on. You guys are acting like you don't want new updates to graal.

What is it then? I know it isn't offline.

One could only hope, since what we've seen so far is atrocious.
Graal needs new servers, though. Period. End of story. I mean if they have problems with 2D (The servers go down way too much for a simple 2D game), G3D is just going to destroy the crappy servers they're using now.

Yes, a server like Era could be made 3D and I don't think it would be that hard either. Good luck finding your modelers and texture artists. Level design for 3D is a whole different world too. You should go work with Valve Hammer Editor so you can get an idea for what its like.

If you wanna get started with 3D leveling I would suggest any game which uses the Unreal Engine and comes with UnrealEd. Its a bit easier than Hammer in my opinion.

The servers run it fine afaik. The problem is that graal3d servers use more resources and CJrs aren't going to be able to run as many graal 3d servers on one box as standard graal servers.

I'm sure you'll be able to make it a FPS with scripting, by changing the camera and such.

well since graal can go 3d they might as well make an fps mode, and yes 2D graal is real fun and im sure that 3rd person fighting games with graal graphics are fun, but the fps would just enhance the total game play

You don't need a "mode". It would be fairly easy to script...

It would be a nice 'add-on', but not a good upgrade for worlds like Era.

Reason being the work needed to make it looks equal as Era is now, would be too much. It would just be fugly in 3D.

It wouldn't be too bad..it would basically be a GTA right? It's just no one on graal would make a complete 3D Era for free. It would just be too much time and resources that no ones gonna do for free. :(

Graal 3D was a Graal server when it was on preview.

"Free"? People have to pay to develop to begin with.

I'll rephrase it for him, then.

No one's gonna pay 10 dollars to develop a server worth 500 dollars to develop for free.

It is not the same server. They use different software.
