New optional feature: lock account to computer

We have added a new feature to lock the account to a specific computer. If someone wants to connect to your account using a different computer then you will receive an e-mail where you need to click on a link to approve the new computer. That will make it harder to hack or steal accounts.
To enable that protection click on the "Protect" button in the serverlist screen. This is optional for normal users, but global admins will need to use this in the future.

k_killar 08-28-2007 05:15 PM

you should of added this a long time ago :D

Chompy 08-28-2007 05:31 PM

Very nice! :p

Twinny 08-28-2007 05:42 PM

So now you have to hope the player doesn't have to type his e-mail password if they are keylogged ^^.

Still, I like it :D

[Edit]: Should add this to the start of RC so we never have to worry bout our IP addresses on each server.

[Edit x2]: I locked my account on one computer and VNC'd to another to add it. It stated that the account was protected but let me play fine. Didn't seem to work..at all.

The computers where you have already played on will still work fine, it will only ask authorization for new computers.

As we all know from many hackings, this feature is nice but will not help when the e-mail acc was also hacked. I remember lots of hacked accounts incl. e-mail hacks.

Good thing they pulled through with this (remember when Unixmad was talking about update and this?)! Proves they won't be TOO behind with stuff now... I guess...

Yes, when clicking on the Protect-button it lets you send a test email to see if you correctly receive the email.
About accounts that were hacked before: it's possible to clear previous account usages, can eventually add another button for that.

cyan3 08-28-2007 11:26 PM

I can't log in no more.. It tells me to go to my email and approve the confirmation, I go to the email and go to the link and it says "notrequested".

Ravenblade1979 09-12-2007 04:19 PM

It never sent me a test email Stefan.
