Sup, Some Tileset Work /w Clockwork

Just tryin' out some tiles Clockwork and I made.
The funny thing is that it took me 2 hours to get the grass to look right.
Any C&C?

P.S.-
You've probably seen the roof tiles before, I made those a year back

The tiles between the doorway and the roof are messed up.
The grass and the dirt look to flat. Maybe you should change how the grass blends into the dirt. The little bushes look cool. I think you should have larger ones!

Haha, I'm an idiot for forgetting that. Fixed.

And can you redefine what you mean by "too flat?"

Pimmeh 08-07-2007 09:07 PM

Cant say I like the bushes.... They dont fit with the grass

Darkyoshi12345 08-07-2007 09:11 PM

The style?

hmm the sand tiles look too tiled for my taste. I do like it though, the style is attractive. I like the bushes, i find them a refreshing change from the typical. I think that the front of the house may be a bit too bright, or lacking in contrast.

I already told you I liked the tiles, But I have yet to give you any pointers on how to fix the things where they lack. So firstly, I must say.. your sand.. doesnt really look like sand at all. It looks more like a grass texture if anything. I would go with a more pixeled looking sand rather than pre-meditated shapes, lines and highlighting. Second, The reason someone said the tiles look flat before would be for the simple fact that your transition from grass to sand lack depth. It looks as if the grass is connected to the sand, when it should actually appear as if it is "under" the grass if I may say. In your case, seeing as you can see the blades in your grass tile, I would advise that you make blades pertrude outwards from your grass to sand, than add a shadow underneath the grass to make it appear as if the grass is standing above the sand. And last.. I think this is more of a personal opinion.. But your wall/window tiles dont very much seem to go with the style of your roof and terrain textures. I would give it more of a "samurai" feeling I guess? Like a building made of a thin white cardboard, with wooden posts maybe? But anyways.. Its a very great start and could indeed become something nice if you can maintain your focus on making it better, rather than just trying to add more and more tiles (like I do sometimes >_<). But yeah, I hope to see more updates in the near future. :D

Yes, very pretty indeed. Just wish a server on Graal right now had graphics like that. :( Or ****, any 2d MMORPG..

zokemon 08-10-2007 11:22 PM

These look like the kind of tiles you would see here:
