Wagon Ho!

Suggestion:
Each business (Bait Shop, Mining Shop, Bow Shop, anywhere you can pay money) has a daily NPC event: a wagon train goes from the business to the bank (yes, this would require a bank being built). Players can sign up to take over for the NPCs at the bank, they are paid 100 gralats if they make it back without being robbed (this would give players an option to make money without equipment, just like the Bomys Pearl diving!) Other players can rob the wagon by hitting the safe 20 times, hitting the wagon cuts the speed to 1/2 temporarily. If they destroy the safe, it blows open and all the money falls out: the wagon explodes, the guards warp back to the bank so they can't collect, and the robbers can run off with the money and maybe a "Thief" flag.
The police attack people with the "Thief" flag...

So here's how it goes.
5 Dustari sign up at the Bank and get on the wagon to Skop's Fish Shop. They take the safe onboard, and halfway back 5 Outlaws/Karakaze/Pirates attack. 3 attack the horses to slow it down so the other 2 can climb onto the wagon and attack the safe. If they blow the safe, they rush off with the money and the Dustari wake up at the bank, where the banker fires them and tells them never to come back; the attackers have to dodge the police until they die/go broke, and can't go to the bank. If the Dustari fend off the attackers long enough, they get 100 gralat each.
What do ya think?

^_^

That is a good idea to much money ow.. 100 is way to much for them to get.

If stefan thought about putting it up he would have to make changes. To it.

Not that bad of a idea more real life.

Lugie 07-18-2001 11:50 AM

fine with me as long as its not based soley on kingdoms and you can deposit or withdraw from that bank and this is the only pourpose of the bank

Tyhm 07-18-2001 04:30 PM

Expansions to the idea:
First, I chose 100 gralats for doing it because it's going to be really difficult and because if it's not a really good prize for doing it/a really bad penalty for blowing it, kingdoms would put their own men on the wagon and crash it themselves. Or just have the "guards" do a horrendously crappy job, since I assume the guards wouldn't be able to damage their own charge, simple flag detection, anyway.
The bank itself would have a counter for players without kingdom affiliation to deposit and withdraw, and (of course!) rob. Naturally if you rob the bank every player in the game is after you for your money, and so are all the police (I believe they are set up so you can add code like this to all of them at once...)
Also, each castle would have a local bank, where a little old man takes your money and keeps track of your account, depositing and withdrawing from a tiny safe in the back. The wagons ALSO carry the money too and from the kingdoms! The local bank only holds maybe a thousand gralats, when it goes under they send a request in the morning that the bank send them more from the Kingdom's account, when it goes over they send the surplus with the evening shipment.
So:
if the King of Dustari wins a war against the Samurai and wins 500 Gralat, he deposits it in the bank. The local bank was down to 850, + 500 they're at 1350. At 6:00, the wagon from the Graal bank shows up, and the little old man gives them the other 350 gralats to put in their account. The wagon men ride back with an escort of Dustari guards. The pirates know about this and attack in mass, slaughtering the Dustari guards and making off with the 350 gralats. The Dustari's bank account at the Graal bank suffers.
The next evening at 6:00 the Pirates' little old man gives the wagon man the Pirate surplus, 500 Gralats (150 from Ghost Pirate's deposit + the 350 from the raid). The Dustari ambush and steal the Pirates' treasure, and try to get it back to the bank the next day!
If the Pirates successfully deposit their gold, the Dustari are in bad shape. If they all try to withdraw their money, they can't! They can only get 1000 from the Dustari bank a day, and they can't get much back from the Graal Bank in the morning shipment because they never successfully deposited anything!

This would give the players a bank to store their money for when they die, it would give the kingdoms a basis for a unique economic system, and most importantly it would give the kingdoms a really good reason to beat the crap out of each other on a daily basis!

Sounds cool.

konidias 07-19-2001 03:50 PM

Heh heh one problem.. do these wagons float? Because most kingdoms are kind of hard to reach.. we need all terrain wagons =D

I was thinking maybe have money be carried on a train or something.. but that might interfere with the train thats already there. =/

Lugie 07-19-2001 04:12 PM

i like it but stefan wants no bank

it sounds like a nice new remade version of Cops and Robbers ?

Bank: we could have one but it shouldn't
be something where you just put money
in, it should be like an open place that
must be protected by players.

The idea for the transportation&robbing is
good.

Tyhm 07-20-2001 09:57 AM

Perhaps the bank is a building with many guards (More guards and better guards when there's more money in the bank), where you can buy a safe for 30 gralats or so, you can deposit and withdraw from your safe, and lock it, and store it in the vault. If players rob it they can each carry one safe, just like in the Classic bank, and hit it many times to break it open after they get away. Sometimes they'll get a player's safe, sometimes they'll get an empty safe and cry, either way the guards are after them.
I guess you can only have your safe robbed if you're actually online...

SSmutz2 07-20-2001 10:10 AM

Brilliant

Falcor 07-20-2001 10:32 AM

I see tyhm has played Majoras mask =D

RObbingthe wagon = Romani Rance Quest to get the cow mask.

Darkspector 07-20-2001 11:47 AM

how about a bank where players get jobs there two and theres a store room with a door that can be opend buy thieves buy saying picklock and it takes 20 sec to open it but you can't move of you have to restart (gold names would be temparaly removed so that it was fair) bankers can dump money but can take out onless the player fills out a withdraw card which also counts how much you put in. If you steal you get the thief tag. the banks could be player run and be small tents ppl set up and if you lose any of the money you lose the tent and you can no long work in banks till you take a banking class

Rekad 07-21-2001 03:15 AM

me likes the idea, but Karakaze would have to steal a wagon to hold all of our musical Instruments, and we would have to hang the carcasses of the outlaw scum on the outside of our wagon.

Tyhm 07-21-2001 05:26 AM

Never played a Zelda since 4 (Link's Awakening), unless you count 5 minutes running into walls on my ex's copy of Zelda64, err, Ocarina of Time or whatever

Tyhm had a girlfriend!?

DarkPyro_2001 07-21-2001 06:21 AM

Uhh.. yeah.

Silver Knight 07-24-2001 02:12 AM

Good ol' Zelda. But Ocarina sucked. I walked into a house and saw some big fat women with a beard cooking. At this, I screamed and threw my Zelda cartridge out the window, and had my brother run it over in his car. Majoras mask lifted my fear of Zelda on 64, and it better blow me away on Gamecube.

Hahahahaha, I just puked when I saw her :P

She's actually married to a guy, too. Something is wrong with them both. :P

I got an idea that I think rocks hehe.

Maybe money is even more valuable.

#1. There is only a certian amount of money.
#2. The banks hold this money each one has a certian amount in it.
#3. The bank makes shipments to the local businesses.
#4. The money goes to the players when they do jobs.
#5. The player spends money.
#6. That money goes to the business which makes a shipment to the bank to store it's money.
#7. If money is short you can't get paid... of if you don't like that a mint or whatever makes more money and makes a shipment to the banks.
#8. If a bank is falling short on cash it calls for a transfer from another nearbye bank and a shipment goes out.
