I tried my hand..

I tried my hand at some level work, me being primarily a graphics designer.

I've started a project and this is an important level in the project. Obviously you can't see this but I was hoping you could offer some tips which would hopefully push it towards looking important, despite being full of NPCs or not.

Constructive comments and critique much welcome and much encouraged.

I like it.

Thankyou :)

Floor is a bit plain, walls look ok except those swamp tiles, the level itself is too empty. Keep at it, looks like it has potential.

How about this?

I do have a reason to put the old man there, so it isn't just a random placement.

Much better, but still lacking something in terms of content. Also the two outer wall line things look out of perspective. Try putting some castle brick tiles under them too.

Maybe instead pf replacing the swamp tiles with black. you could make it part of the sky too :o
This is a neat level.

Dont be afraid to use your pixel art skills to spice the level up.

Well, since it's not setting atmosphere I'd like it to set, I might just do that :)

I actually like the level quite a bit. Creative, gives me the sense that i am up in the clouds, i would even say as if i was in the home of the gods hehe.

Is this the bottom floor of an airship by any chance?

Codein 06-20-2007 11:08 PM

No, it's a flying fortress. It's got a reason why it's floating but I don't really want to release too many details of my project.

Hah im gonna piss you all off since I got more information then youhou!
Well anyway. Go Codein!

Some things:

The cupboard doesnt fit colorwise,
the man on the carpet doesnt fit too :O

Rest is okay, maybe fill it up with some pillars.

if it was posible to fall a sleep in a level it would be that one.
its so plain...

I like sleeping though, I did that quite a lot while I idled on graal.

should maybe try to do something with that marble tile.. I never see it used, and I think maybe it can help make your level look more "important." Don't spam that tile though.. maybe a small path or something at most. Or maybe use that tile as the floor, and use the yellow carpet tile. I love that tile.

Too bad there really isnt any uses for the marble tile. =[

Edit: Maybe you can use your pixel art to make the marble tile look better and use it as the floor, and use carpet over it or something. That would look cool, and make it look important, I think. Just use an addtiledef2. Could look neat if you do it right.

Codein 06-23-2007 01:00 PM

Mhm, I suppose so. I don't see that much going for this level. After all, I was just experimenting whilst looking at the styles of other levels. I guess the second level I made was development of the ideas in this one but to a higher standard.
