MPS (Music Player System) [Screenies]

4 Attachment(s)
Well earlier on today I was tired of using some memory hogging application to listen to music while I was playing Graal, so I decided to make this (Screenshots below). This is part of the GCom system I am working on meaning it will be very interactive, with tons of statistics. So far everything is going on great. The reason I'm posting here right now is to get some ideas to add to this becase I plan on releasing it to the Code Gallery as soon as its finished, and maybe some other servers could use it or modify it so players don't have to use some external music player.

The script is made so you can play songs from any playlist, but right now it is only able to read the clientsided "main" playlist [scriptfiles/servername/main.arc]. Eventually once the GCom domain is purchased, you will be able to have an unlimited ammount of playlists
[www.gcom.net\client\<account>\playlists\randomplis t.arc]
, this way if other servers do choose to use this system you can load your playerlists from the webserver rather then copying and pasting each playerlist file to another server's folder.

What's included right now:
- In-depth Artist profiles
Artist information content are from MTV.com, Last.FM, and AZLyrics
- Ability to play music from your hard drive, and maybe URLs (not tested but should work)

What's to be added:
-Give me some ideas
-Statistics on song/artist information
i.e. "Most Played Track", "Most listened to Artist", "Biggest fan of Artist"
-Lyrics
-Webserver loaded Playerlists
-Player options

I did a download track on Era rofl
add that^^

Sorry if I am coming off rude.. but this really seems useless <.<.

Graal's sounds usually get all 'weird' when listening to music on it.

Depends on what you download. You know, internet + music is not always illegal...

That is why uploading MP3 and WAV music files onto a server is illegal. You must upload it to your website, and then play the URL. This way, if there is illegal music, Cyberjouers can't be sued.

PS) Eww, rap. I hope it has some AC/DC.

Thats okay, I personally don't like to run many programs on my computer because it really isnt that fast, so I just listen to my music on Graal.

It doesnt "come" with music you add files, and their directories, to a playlist file and it plays from there. Also all artist information is loaded through an external web source (mainly MTV)

^-- That is illegal because it is sharing music that you DON'T own.

What? You know WMP speeds up your performance on Graal?

I spoke to Stefan about it once and I forgot what his possible explanation was.

Opening up a process, which takes resources, speeds up Graal? Sounds odd.

Check out XMplay. I used to use it when I played fullscreen stuff on my PIII. Allows fully customizable keys/combinations so you can control basically anything with your keyboard, and hardly uses up any memory at all.

Yes, because of something in WMP. I noticed this when Graal ran more smoothly as I listened to my music, and I spoke to Stefan about it but I forgot what he told me since it was a while back.

Deadly_Killer 05-13-2007 05:08 PM

I think Gambet is wrong.

I am pretty sure running Windows Media Player helped Vista work due to sound errors or something.

xXziroXx 05-13-2007 05:28 PM

WMP speeds up Graals performance for me too!

I agree! Although, iTunes generate a **** LOAD of lag - especially when changing song.

cbk1994 05-14-2007 02:16 AM

Is this on any public server, or UC, where we can come try it out?

Rapidwolve 05-14-2007 02:55 AM

Right now its on mythic, all you have to do is this to get your songs up and running:

mkfile:
<graaldir>\scriptfiles\Mythic%032Legends\playlists \main.arc

Edit [main.arc] file; add music directories, example below:
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\11-Robbery-feat-G-unit.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\The Pack - I'm Shining.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\The Pack - Ride My Bike.mp3
C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Wu-Tang Clan - Triumph.mp3

Logon to Mythic and press F4.
