Enhanced Private Messaging.
Over the years everything seems to have changed, except from the Private Messaging system; The only thing that I've seen that is different is the lack of advertisements on the bottom of each PM and that was gone a looong time ago. Nothing seems to have grown in the private messaging, which is a pretty integral part of the game, it's common throughout all servers nearly. I know that a scripted playerlist is "coming soon" but is that just going to add it in game, taking up more room of my Graal screen? :frown:
In enabling HTML to view PM's, they do look much better and most people do have HTML enabled, but what is the point in it? Other then of course, to crash people through it, which you still can apparently. If you take a leaf out of forum software, they usually have everything you'd need (probably more too, especially in an in game discussion environment), and it is restricted, no HTML, "BB code". Basically all PM'ers need is perhaps, Bold, Italics, Underlining, Sizes, Fonts, Colors, Hyperlink Parsing, image viewing, and smilies. The smilies, well those haven't been updated since I can remember, heck most of them don't even work anymore. Why not use the nice new forum smilies for in game PM's too? I think they'd look good, completely better then the current ones anyway; It promotes a bit of consistency between the forums and the game. However, they're just smilies. Little bits like this I think would improve things such as functionality and security, plus it'd be nice to see the old being updated before the new comes out. I think things may be slightly focused on new "products" and functions, but it's the current game that is holding the people, and to be honest it might always be the case. Oh, and if anything is changed please.. please don't make the PM's look like Fisherprice Etch-a-Sketch x_x |

HTML in PMs is annoying :D

I agree with him, I don't like this PM window and its functions x.x

So script one :D
I know for Aeon I was planning on making a little /tell system like on Planetside and lots of other MMOs, so you can do /t[ell] <account/nick> <text> to send them a screen message. |

In my opinion, Graal is supposed to be simple, hence why I don't like Zodiac and especially Maloria. The player shouldn't be going out of their way in order to use some basic things so rather then just relying on the servers to improve every single thing, it'd be nice if things were improved globally. I'm getting pretty sick of people making suggestions for things, when they're not development staff on any server and then get the same old "well script it!", I didn't think that's what this forum was here for. |

While we should all be able to script our own PM system, it needs to be simple and at least quasi-standardized. (See also: Templates) - if Stefan releases the scripted version of PMs and removes F7 PMs, then we can all just edit the PM class via RC and voila, we have all the PM features we want. If your server has custom graphics for the player's portrait, you can display their avatar as they're talking to you. If your server uses cellphones for PMs, you can have it appear in one of those static-bubbles. You can script it to be a standalone window or a bit of the screen real-estate. You can script it to hide people who succeed on their Ninja attempt. You can script it to show important server-NPCs who have themselves been scripted to respond to PMs. You can script it to make the LAT utterly invisible while they're testing something. You can script it to translate common phrases in (effectively) every language. You can script it with any smilies you care to create. You can script it so Humans can't even PM to (Baddies). You can script it so everything PMed from jail is "You gotta let me out, I'm innocent!" "Attica! Attica!", unless it goes to a staffer. That's what we need. |

I think I'll redo the Message system so it works with GUI controls, so its more easily controlled. |
