Enguard-Graal Sparring Championship

Probably, not too many of you have heard of this or the WGFC, which was hosted by Clops and Highlander. Anyway, it's a very large invitational spar tournament that puts Graal's best against each other. I have several ideas for how to run the tournament, and one is a very unique draft-style which, I think, can really revolutionize people's take on sparring once again. I need a host though, for a website, a host that supports PHP. I'm asking for volunteers! My AIM is Inphektid, or you can get me back here.

Aren't you banned on your other accounts? Nice account name btw.

Sorry if you're not, anyway, if I still played I'd be in for this, I wasn't bad back in the day.

No, I'm not, so there's no reason to pollute a perfectly good topic with these blank accusations.

I'm still looking for a host!

This'll just end up being like any other major tournament, the same 5 guys as we see every week on UN or (used to)N-Pulse. All this is is slapping a fancy championship title name on any other weekly tournament that those guys spar in.

Laughed a little bit reading the last 3 posts... As far as the popularity fest here goes, usually the best sparrers become pretty popular, so blame us for that. The best haven't really left, me, Halo, Squirt, and some others have been playing Uniball because we've just been bored of Graal really. I'd come back if something like this was held, so I decided to do it. Not to sound rude either, but have you even been around long enough to know sparrers better than the ones that hang around currently? I'm sure you guys live off of the 'legacies' of people like Killermech and Draxi. Feel free to bring them back any time, sparring hasn't changed, it would probably end up embarassing Graal's past, heh. And as for the '5 best guys,' is that even an arguement? It's like you're blaming good sparrers for being there, existing, and showing up to win tournaments. It's not our fault that people can't get on the level of maybe Highlander, Neo, Ares, Halo, and myself. It's a 16-man tourney, that leaves room for 9 other people. Usually, the best win.

I wasn't making an argument, the only point I was making was that theres nothing that's going to set this tournament apart except for a little more bragging rights for guys that win every other tournament anyways.

It's basically a random server weekly tournament with bigger publicity.

Hey look, the thread has already turned into a bunch of name dropping.

Sparring was fun back when there was a sparring community, now there's just a handful of people who sit around and pat eachother on the back because they've managed to remain passionate about an aspect of this game for a long enough time to become more proficient at it than others.

Basically, what's the point? The same 3-4 people win every tourny, and one of those 3-4 will probably win this.

It's not because those few are on a "Different Level", it's just because the sparring community is basically dead.

If there was a possiblity for some unknown players to do very well in this and earn a name for themselves, yeah that would be cool.

But no one really cares if any of the people you named can win another tourny.

wtf sparring community dead?

I just hosted a 24 man spar tourney twice in a row at 2AM on UN on a monday night... ppl loved it.

how can the sparring community be dead if so many people still enjoy sparring?

EDIT: It was probably 12-1AM but still on a monday night...

My brother Roman was the only person in WGFC to go undefeated in the big tourneys.

Did you just want a higher postcount or something? First of all, about this 'name dropping,' what's your deal with it? Nothing bad about listing Graal's best sparrers. Apparently there's 'no sparring community,' yet nearly every server has a successful weekly and/or monthly tournament, which isn't something so common in 'your' days, even though I don't know who you're assuming you've played longer than. And about this 'possibility,' that's funny. You know, the 'good' sparrers don't just tell people like you that you're good to make you feel cool or anything, we do it to people that are actually good. Squirt and Rygor for example, they are relatively new, and already pretty good. And Quick Strike, he started out hanging out in UN's town tailor, dressing up as cats and roleplaying, and now he's a good sparrer. Funny. I'm sure no one does care, no one as in the people who can't win. If I'm on the Houston Rockets and the Dallas Mavericks are in the NBA championship with the Detroit Pistons, do you you think that I really care? Hell no, because it's not me. We don't do this for you to care about, we do it because it's fun, and if we wouldn't, no one else would, because they know we'd beat them. Think, post.

Nothing but fancy finger movement, yet people are whining and complaining in this thread as if it's not fair because we're better than most of Graal. If it's nothing, how is there such seperation, for example, between you and Neo? If it's nothing but fancy finger movement, get good at it? It's not hard, not at all, that's why I can't understand why so many of you are bad at it. (Oh, and if someone spits out the excuse 'I don't care' or 'I don't try,' someone laugh at them for me, I can only post once per day.)
