Playerworld ftp passwords
 

Just want to say that the owners of the
playerworlds must care about not giving the
ftp password to too many people.
If the ftp password needs to be changed
often then it will be better to take it down,
it's just stupid to change the password
every 2 days just because the pw owner
thinks its fun to give the password to 10 people.
1 or 2 people with access to the server
are normally enough

Well.. Owner,Co-owner.. Levels Admin (on most servers for administrating houses) and GM (to fix errors , help people,fix things) Thats really all thats needed..Owner can take care of staff work and such..But if you dont have enough people with ftp..your overwhelmed with work

No you only need to upload stuff from
other people, if you have some more time
you can also check the stuff you are uploading,
but that would at least prevent other people
from abusing the ftp access because they don't
get direct access.

On Graal2001 we only have 1 or 2 people
with ftp access, still have many updates.
On playerworlds 2 or 3 people might be needed
because sometimes someone is on vacation or
is away for some days.

Some playerworlds never need password
changes (like Atlantis), some playerworlds
need the password changed every 2 days,
there must be something wrong since there
are not more updates on those playerworlds
than on the playerworlds where only a few
people have access.

I dont think its the same for us as it is for you though Stefan. As much as as you do for Graal and Graal 2001 server and all the other playerworlds. Its your Job. Its what you do for a living. When we make playerworlds and levels and such. We do it for fun. We dont have all the time you use working on Graal 2001 for updates and such. Because we have other things to do. Like alternate jobs if we have them , or chores around the house and such .. (not saying you dont do chores) so playerworlds give access to more people. I do belive that some of them do it irresponsibly though. Giving FTP To most staff like you said.

Take down PW's that have to change there pass 3 times

and recheck peoples places, because if theres copyright I bet that they will say FTP was hacked harhar

For FTP there should be certian accounts or user names that can be used to give acccess to certian files.
like to guild admin, they only need access to the guilds txt files.
and the levels admin need access to the levels and such, ect..

if my playerworld gets put up only me and the co-owner are getting ftp and it wont be bad because we are allways online ( we are losers that never go out of town)

Maybe users should beable to change the FTP password with some super graal FTP password changing thingie program.

maybe you could have 2/3 FTP accounts per PW, and use like group ownership.....

Merlin, you know nothing about enigma, or about the ammt of times we change FTP

Also, I know alot of people have FTP for G2K1, and stefan, if you think thats all, you should be a lil bit more careful, cuz Ive had someone sell me the FTP info for G2K1 before, for a measly 10 gralat.
