New Spar & Kingdom Wars

The new fighting modifications have been enabled!
The main improvements:
- You are pushed back when being hit
- Kingdom leaders (with 'K' right) can turn their kingdom island into battle ground where you don't lose items (see the kingdoms diplomacy tab)
- Completely different fighting on battle grounds:

- More classic-like hp damage: weapon damage, ac and wc still have influence, but much less than before, and it is much easier to hit other players
- shields block attacks from the front
- limited speed
- shooting arrows is freezing longer but is also taking more hitpoints if being successful

The new hp calculation is only in effect for the battle grounds - either spar arenas or kingdoms which are temporary turned into battle grounds by their leaders. When fighting against monsters and against other players outside of battle grounds the old system is still used.
The problem with the player vs player fighting was that it was impossible to really fight if your levels had a difference of more than 10, and also melee was much better because people could just run around in circles around your victim before wizards could cast a single spell. Those things are working better in the new system, so I hope you will have fun when doing spars or taking part in events.

Cool, as long as we still have a way to really PK for fun. :D I hope to see GK liven up a little more.

Dunno about that shield blocking thing...make it so you only block if you're holding your shield up with D.

Oh, cool. I should probably get online and try it out before saying anything, huh? xD Thanks.

Casting magic in close quarters is suicide and can be potentially ineffective.

Draenin 03-04-2007 02:08 AM

It's a good idea to make good use of multi-hit spells, then.

Glad to finally see this in place.

No. If they get knocked out of the area effect of your multi-hit spells, they're not going to multi-hit.

protozero 03-04-2007 02:17 AM

Multi hit spells and weapons kinda' suck now. Bolts don't do much anymore, they relied on multiple hits. Daggers are now preety much thrown out the window, I didn't mine having the reduced range at the ability to multi hit. maybe 2 max, but now I can't. Possibly make daggers not throw you back, daggers are mean't for stabbing, quickly. Not large fly-back hits.

Or reduce the pushback effect for daggers and certain spells?

Crow 03-04-2007 02:29 AM

Make daggers a little faster and dont let them push back your enemies. Also, add some actually useful combat skills.

A lot of spells should not logically knock someone back, like elemental spells and so on. The only ones I can see giving a proper knockback would be missile-type spells like magic bullet and so on.

Daggers most definitely need pushback, because of how fast you can swipe with them. Making it to where they only stun the enemy makes them a sitting duck.

MasterNuke 03-04-2007 05:14 AM

Also I must bring attention to the "Sitting Duck" aspect of casting. It's even harder to pull off a spell when someone is on you in an arena.

Update:
- increased the speed slightly
- illnesses are not pushing you back anymore

Undocumented changes:
- No Knockback at all (casters beware!)
