yes I can, I've played around with 8-bit noise makers (realize I use noise not sound, :P) to MP3 creators.
|
I'm taking a class on Music Technology in my high school ^^ I'm learning to use Finale, and Reason, and all of those, even some fruity loops. I'm afraid although I can do it, I do not own the software, or a keyboard to hook into my computer to do it, and I'm too lazy other whys to find another means too. ^^
|
finale sucks :(
|
I actually have Reason but never got around to installing it....odd.
This isn't so much for making sound effects but interms of music, I LOVE AcidPro. |

I use a ton of different editors but whats fun is getting a electric guitar (assuming you know how to play one) and hooking it up to either a midi converter (or some programs do this for you). the sfx's come out very fun!!!
|
I voted "Hell Naw" for the simple reason that creating and editing sound effects are completely different, and I can't do the (imo) harder of the two, which is creating. Editing is easy, even my grandfather can do it and he doesn't even know what 90% if of the features on Microsoft Word do.

I'm not sure anyone in this community actually creates sound effects the way they are usually created for TV shows/cartoons/games. (actually using a high quality microphone/sound studio and creating the sounds with household objects and such)
Most people just modify sounds or other sound effects to get a new sound effect. Of course... nowadays a lot of shows/games being produced use sound libraries too, which is sad. It makes me sad hearing the Graal dying noise on dragonball Z and other cartoons. It also makes me sad to hear the arrow shooting noise from Graal on Naruto in many scenes. It's like... they have the money to hire great voice actors (for the japanese version) and get all this nice music yet they are dipping into royalty free sound effects for their sounds... It's just bleh. |
i make sfx like that...I have sound studio in my garage...Its all about finding the right materials =x
|
If you also do music with Fruityloops, go download some instrument packs and learn to use sound distortion effects on individual instrument noises. Then arrange the desired sounds into short sequences with a very fast tempo.
|
Isnt fruityloops like 2k or something x.x

I'd never pay for Fruityloops. I use it though.

Twelve people saying that they create sound effects, and I doubt even a quarter of them really do. He probably means bottom-up, people. That doesn't mean mixing a premade "ker" sound with a premade "plunk" sound to make a "kerplunk" sound. Sheesh

I don't have a good microphone, or a portable recorder to record my own sounds though I did do it last year with school equipment. I do mash ups with Pro Tools. I think I used a Sound Ideas library when I did the sound for a radio play awhile ago.
Sooo... I'm not really sure what to vote as. I choose neither. Edit: I see now that it says "/edit" in the poll title. so I'll go with yes. |
I used to play around with making sound effects for flash movies using stupid crap found around the house, but the quality was less than excellent, which actually went along well with my less than excellent flash animation abilities.
|
I use Audacity... not the greatest, but still works.
|
I give up on making SFX since there's no real damand for it on servers anymore.
|
18 people say yes yet I haven't seen any classic server with good sounds.

Hell, even games with awesome soundtracks/sound effects I've muted after long enough. |
wtf...how do you "Create" a sound from scratch, for example how can you make a realistic ak47 sound from scratch, that sounds pretty impossible, if it is it will never sound as good as the real thing...

Example, battlefield 2. |

yea they really do go and record the sounds from the real thing, but if theres people on graal buying m4's, 12 gauges, and 9mm just to record the sound for graal well...you have a very fulfilling life... =o
|
Gun's don't usually work for a low quality mike due to a HUGE amount of overrun and volume level, you Basically end up with fuzz. an easy alternative is finding some wood, clavs or taking the snare off a drum, run it through an amp and depending on the type of gun take up the echo and reverb and you should have a gun type sound. Besides it takes someone who spends their lives around guns to tell the difference between two guns who both fire one shot and are roughly the same calliber. Some sounds you have to get from nature, I have yet to create a realistic cricket or horse just from my sfx creation stuff I have.
|
what he said >_<
|
I can make some SFX :O
Nothing advanced though :( |
Also, if
