;) Nice level, you did what I said in the other thread? :P

WanDaMan 02-09-2007 08:41 PM

Very nice! D:

Chandler 02-09-2007 08:42 PM

Wow, thank you all! :O

I did what you said, Chompy. I still prefer scripting though. I could program something to generate a level for me, if I wanted too...

Your good at scripting, and an automated level generator would be nice ;)

With detail? Like auto place details like flowers, and such?
And with levelgen you need a image

Exactly. I guess he didnt get that its possible to script something that would detail your levels. There are still things you have to do yourself of course, but it takes some work away ;>

Torankusu 02-10-2007 07:21 PM

with level gen if you use the right pixel colors I believe it can automatically place things like grass blades and flowers. Granted, it won't be very appealing to the eye because it won't be as precise as by hand, but why even bother scripting something to generate a detailed level anyway?

That's almost as bad as using a predefined path-tool npc and takes all of the fun out of level design.

You are right about the fun, it really takes it away, but you got something wrong there. Its not as bad as the path tool, it can be way better.

Torankusu 02-10-2007 07:48 PM

i'd need to see an example?

ChaosTika 02-10-2007 08:46 PM

It's better than the old one! :D

Pretty nice, levels without random paths/details are rare these days. :[

Nice old style level anyway Chandler, I'd suggest you stay to scripting though :p (no offence intended)
