? could you be a little bit more specific

Rapidwolve 01-13-2007 05:58 PM

What I mean is optimization, I know that the graal client can run swifter. Same for server, faster upload and download speeds would be nice.

Cyberjoueurs is not likely going to upgrade their connection simply so you can upload five_hour_kitten_meowing_session.wav a little faster. Sorry.

Honestly not needed.

You want Graal to run on Pentium Pro?

Tyhm 01-13-2007 08:42 PM

Prefetching would be nice. The current software kinda supports Download Packs, but the servers in general either don't or can't put the necessary files in them...maybe it's that if they make the pack too big, people won't play? I know there's an option to Download huge packs you don't necessarily NEED - Kingdoms MP3 Packs, etc. - but it should be that people who want to optimize their experience can download all the graphics on a server (as long a process as that'd be) before they jump on, then the server has very little to Send them during their gameplay...I wonder why it doesn't work that way...

That made me laugh.

It runs fine as it is?

excaliber7388 01-19-2007 07:58 PM

Graal could use this.
I have a slow connection, I can't even get on Graal half the time.
Let alone using NPCs, or the RC, or seeing the gmap!

Draenin 01-19-2007 08:45 PM

Would you rather pay $3 a month, or $15 a month, like other MMORPG users? Take your pick. The current connection seems fine to me.

Tyhm 01-19-2007 10:49 PM

Still not seeing how these requests differ from prefetching. If you can download all the big stuff first, the NPCs (as memory serves) won't have any trouble loading.

Graal is already doing that to an extent; however, I don't know about you but I don't want Graal downloading things that it might not use.

Tyhm 01-19-2007 11:01 PM

*shrugs* I'd rather it did, or at least gave the option. If I could keep my computer on overnight and Voila, everything I need's preloaded - or if every time I logged on it said "Hang on a sec, applying patch 2007.1.17.3..." like most online games I've seen - but then I didn't have to worry about walking across the map soo fast that I wind up wrapping around the world to get walled in a patch of trees that looked like a grass field...or walking through the impenetrable plot wall and screwing up a quest...or walking into the middle of a boss-baddy and getting stuck until I die...It'd totally be worth it.

excaliber7388 01-20-2007 12:17 AM

I'd rather be able to use it, and have a little extra stuff downloaded, than not be able to get on, play, or use the rc at all x_X
