Kyrule Hiring

Kyrule Hiring

http://www.kyrule.com/kyrule.gif

Kyrule is now hiring level, graphics, sound and scripting teams for a new classic style server with some interesting features.

Kyrule will have a unique political and faction system, with players rising to become mayors, commanders or leaders of their faction, town or faction.
You will also be able to purchase houses and stores and hire other players to work in them, as well as create unique items to sell to other players.

You can rise to become the leader of an evil faction and attack enemy towns to take over more land and steal gold, or you can become the leader of a powerful allied realm, or even a neutral or rouge pirate state.

I think my ideas are quite original to Graal, and although it has been attempted various times in other MMORPGs (ussaly free ones), I intend on implementing it in Graal and being unique in the progress.

Our combat system will be completely classic; swords will work in the same way as Classic Graal (Graal The Adventure) except you will be able to hold to charge the sword instead of just slashing, like in the Super Ness Zelda game.
We are also creating a kind of RPG system, with a classic interface, while everything such as NPCWs and swords will work the same we will implement new features such as armor (which is present in Zelda: A Link To The Past but missing in Graal), and power ups that will work in a simple classic style theme.

I have good leadership and level design skills; I can also create simple graphics and menus. I am also the owner of a registered company in England as well as a developer in a 3D MMORPG; I also own the Kyrule.com domain name which will be used for the server.

If you are interested in helping out please get in contact or post here, I would also appreciate any helpful comments on my ideas and server design.

Thanks,
Haze (Graalian: 1999-2007)

Nice thread. I hope you get the help you need. Sounds like a wonderful server man. Good Luck.

Raeiphon 01-11-2007 06:53 PM

A fantastic idea.

I'd really like to see this kick off. It's a shame I cant help - Gold expires tomorrow :<

I wish you the best of luck with this project - really!

I am implementing zones as well, like in WoW, instead of just one big overworld, that way I can add to the overworld without having to redo the gmap, it also means I can add and remove areas due to environment changes, for instance a snowed up canyon, or even a bridge that has been destroyed.

Elk 01-11-2007 07:55 PM

instances!

HazeOfTime 01-11-2007 07:56 PM

Yes and instances, that will only be used for things such as tutorials or guild battles where only one person, or a guild can be allowed in

EDIT: Though as an edit, most guild battles will take place in real time in the environment, it is more realistic that way, but some times its best to use instances in certain guild battles, such as events.

There sure aren't any servers with armour!

HazeOfTime 01-11-2007 10:06 PM

Yeah, but there is in the Zelda game Graal is based on.

Oh, I forgot to mention: Quarter hearts as well instead of just half.

Are you suggesting Graal Kingdoms, Zodiac, Maloria, and Valikorlia don't have armor?

HazeOfTime 01-11-2007 10:27 PM

They do not have it in classic style like in Zelda ;)

Oh and just to clear something up: instances will only be used for things like tutorials and events, I do not want a server like Guild Wars.

Also why did you rip off "Hyrule"? You could atleast be more stealthy than that...

HazeOfTime 01-11-2007 11:12 PM

I got it from one of my friends, Kyrule Bower, not from Hyrule, and I am not turning this into an argument, either post helpful comments or an application to be staff or leave, and I do not want one of your follow up comments such as 'oh I would never work here anyway', just leave without comment.

HazeOfTime 01-12-2007 02:25 AM

Sorry bout that, got a bit snappy because of something else.

If by "classic style" you mean "only two" then I guess so.

HazeOfTime 01-12-2007 02:39 PM

There will be more than 2 since we will have more NPCWs, shield and sword levels/skills and are using quarter hearts instead of half hearts.

Doing this in Theed >_<.

Good method. Allows for easy expansion without screwing up the overall gmap ^^.

:whatever:
Let's not rain on the kids parade for no reason at all. He sounds qualified and excited and has some cool ideas. I say give the man some good luck, offer help if you can, and stop jumping all over everyone who tries to start a new server.

We can't one second complain that none of the in construction servers ever move to classic and the next be ruining the excitement of those responsible for getting it done.

HazeOfTime 01-12-2007 08:18 PM

Thanks bud, I have been a Graalian since 1999 and this is my 3rd server, I use to own 2 others, but I decided that I would just restart everything and focus on one main server, since I am kind of a perfectionist.
Problem is all of my old staff quit Graal and the ones that did not refuse to learn the new scripting engine and just play it for fun, so I have some level and graphics staff, but only one scripter (who I found by asking someone at random on Unholy Nation and not from here).

Please post some snapshots!

HazeOfTime 01-12-2007 10:23 PM

I do not want to show you my latest work, but this is a few pictures of some levels I made last year for Griffin, which was my last server, keep in mind its Classic style.

EDIT: I forgot to mention, the grass detail is not completed in the first picture.

More Features:
() As well as guilds, you will be able to start trading companies and buy stock and shops where you can sell a wide variety of objects.
() Factions that own the games towns and guards will be player controlled, you can rise to a high rank and title that will give you power over an all manor of things that ordinary city mayors cannot do.
() There will be unique exchange rates and currency settings that can be set as tax options by the controlling factions, this will have an impact on the worlds economy.

I am also focusing in keeping the server stocked with loads of things for players to do as well as guilds and keeping it with the classic style.

Zideruic 01-12-2007 10:42 PM

Yo, Kyrule wanted me to volunteer to help you as he's my best friend irl rofl. I do GFX. (plus he wants to know how it's going)

HazeOfTime 01-13-2007 12:54 AM

Any scripters on? I need good scripters.

Kittah 01-13-2007 01:00 AM

The levels look pretty basic, but so far it's a nice and simple layout - no cluttered, horribly tile-bashed houses, simple but nice road layout and style and seemingly nice tree layouts. Good, old-fashioned Classic levelling :)
