The whole 1.39 issue =\
This would be a good chance for stefan and unixmad to make some sort of way when you pay for g2k1 you also are allowed to run a gserver from your computer. however maybe like only a max of 20 or so players. You must have an account to use it because when you turn on the gserver it asks you for your graal2001 account and password then connects makes sure it's correct then loads the gserver. Just a thought they could maybe even make it a new thing to buy Developers edition or something. (of course you couldnt use the a npc server or anything graal2001ish just stuff non p2p server can)

Why?

I presented an idea like that to Stefan in some old topic but he said it would never happen |

I'm hoping to get Zero 33's account banned from here, then I'll be happy.
|
why the hell do you want thayt to hapen
|
Graal might get more popular
but would die because we would need to stop any developement and sell what we have since we cannot make any cent then |

just make a pw, and be happy

personally i think it would be cool to get consultants from like Square or something...and have them help out..
some kind of partnership would rock you would have to pay them, but then you could say "YOU BETTER CHECK THIS OUT CAUSE SQUARE WORKED ON IT" and more people would come.. just any idea, i dont know if its feasible. |
Yo I think 1.39 should be used for testing purpouses only like you need to test your PW before submittal and shwo it to your staff(since it's too big to distribute) so you go on and you all get to play together and see if it works.

look at it this way
anyone who's ever played a 3d shooter i.e. Half Life anyone who has the game can make a server. only people who have the game can play. ITS THE SAME THING. only there's a 'trial' graal. i say screw the free servers. Have -1- free server with very very limited features, but stll show how good Graal is. put a 100 player limit on it. ALL graal players should be p2p. If you took away free servers, then youd get more money. Have graal servers with max of 20 players send their information constantly to a Graal server server which would display the information just like how playerworlds are. Just like GameSpy or WON etc. use levels and spells. have them transfer from one server to another. |

Just leave the way it is, or take down p2p servers.. It's stupid. Or put a limit on Graal 2001. |
If they can't pay for the game, then whoop-de-freakin-do, they can't play the game.
I like the idea of having one free server, and having all the other servers p2p. If the people dont like the way the free server is, they always know the p2p servers are better, or they know they dont want to pay for Graal. At this point in time, the p2p servers other than G2k1 are either not very good at all, or they're under construction... If we want people to pay, then we need a variety of servers. Val is obviously the role playing server. NewMain is the generic server with all the balanced cool stuff on it. TOT is IN THE MAKING of a good server, but they have yet to add any sets of levels to the public. Mithica promised that when they went p2p, they would add a whole new set of levels, but they didn't... Bravo online, as I have heard and seen, has gone bad. NewMain has somewhat of a storyline. Val is a roleplaying world and has it's own story as the players make it up. TOT has a great story posted on thier site, Mithica chooses to copy off of other games. And Bravo Online is pretty much all about PKing from what I've seen. It's not about the version really, it's about the content of the worlds that makes the game better. If ya wanna spice things up, add some neat NPCs that alter the way you play the game, and make better levels with more tiles! |
It would be nice if Stefan would let us pay money to put a server up, and have it cost like 30-50 dollars monthly.

If you want to host the Gserver, buy a license.
We the players don't understand the dynamics of this but I cansee it's an unrealistic business model. Still, for security's sake, it might be wise to incoroporate an idea like the aforementioned "server server" some way that the GServer can be shut down remotely by Graal Online. Problem is, it's still local so it's still hackable. |

please stop posting on this issue |
Then again, running a -server- takes tons of bandwidth and even 5 people would lag the crap out of the thing. And Graal Online can't host a thousand servers, they have trouble with 5 or 6.

TrueHeaT:
