Mining Rock

Uh, 6 color goodness. Well, 7 colors because of the transparency.
Yeah, I messed up on the coloring.

What should I fix?

zephirot 09-13-2006 03:52 AM

Look good to me :).

coreys 09-13-2006 04:01 AM

it looks damn sexy to me =)

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 04:03 AM

Thanks, and is there anything I should fix to make it look better? (Even just a little bit)

Zero Hour 09-13-2006 04:05 AM

Looks great, add a shadow using 32bit PNG.

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 04:12 AM

How would I shadow it? From what viewpoint/perspective?

I'm not sure if this will open in all browsers. It doesn't look very nice, either way... but hey, you get the idea :)

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 04:57 AM

Well it's going to be put into Graal, lol.

Graal supports this, lol.

Zideruic 09-13-2006 05:02 AM

yay shadows!

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 05:03 AM

Last time I tried making something semi-transparent it ended up as the whole thing becoming transparent. :x Or do you want me to make a dithered shadow?

You probably saved it as the wrong format. Last time I tried to make a 32bit PNG I saved it wrong, and the entire thing was luminescent.

How do I get to 32-bit in Photoshop? It's grayed out for me. Do you mean 24-bit because 32-bit is for HDR.

And update:

This is in 24 bit, I believe. (Or 8)

killerogue 09-13-2006 05:24 AM

I don't think the shadow matches the rock. :[ It looks like a shadow that would go on something 3D. But it's good nonetheless.

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 05:29 AM

Okay, how about this now?

EDIT:

Ugh, shadow was too dark. Fixed.

24-bit color, and 8-bit Alpha blending (transparency).

e:
Found a page with a plugin for Photoshop to save PNGs in the proper format. Requires some alterations.

http://www.fnordware.com/superpng/

e:
Made another version, a bit nicer looking. Used that new plugin.

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 06:23 AM

Thanks, but what do you mean "Requires some alterations?"

I had to add this new plugin to the "file format" directy and basically disable the previous "PNG" version - which means, if you're not skilled and you delete your other file format files, your photoshop won't be able to save files in any format.

Darkyoshi12345 09-13-2006 07:13 AM

I didn't have to do that. I just dragged it into a folder and BAM it works.

SayianOozaru 09-13-2006 07:34 AM

It looks a bit small?

Other than that, it's really pretty good.

And Mr.Trickster(ZH), I'm loving the shadow, btw. ;) lol.

Seems big enough for a mining rock, like those individual ones that drop for people to mine. Not the huge ones.

Is there a such thing as a double positive? (As opposed to double negative) >_<

It's fairly ugly, but go nuts.
