Anyone know a good...

Anyone know a good GFX program? Ive been working on my GFXing skills and i need something better than paint.
And if someone could help me learn how to script NPCs and stuff, and maybe teach me how to do ganis, that would be great too

Adobe photoshop
Get it ;)
It can be expensive, but it's worth it.

If you're thinking free, you could try gimp.org.

I've been using Paint Shop Pro 6 for over 7 years and it works great (although GIMP can sometimes be better for adding text to an image and is better at file compression). You probably won't be able to find many places still selling PSP6 though, and you'll want something newer if you want to do any kind of serious shading work (which you won't if you're just making Graal graphics).

Photoshop is the most popular but I find Paint Shop Pro to be more usable.

Im just gonna be making graal GFX. thanks all ^^

Draenin 08-29-2006 12:21 AM

Paintshop Pro is freaking awesome for doing gfx. Doing basic outlines in paint and then working with those outlines in PSP is excellent.

ilovecurry 08-29-2006 12:23 AM

Thnx ^^
Anyone got any ideas for a GFX i could make for practice?
Im gonna be using paint until i get PSP

I suggest looking at something small on your desk where you keep your computer and then trying to draw that.

Draenin 08-29-2006 12:34 AM

A drill-bot.

ilovecurry 08-29-2006 03:03 AM

If you want something free, google for Serif Photoplus 6. It's pretty good, even though it's old. It's what I started out with. For something that cost money, I personally use Macromedia Fireworks 8 and love it.
For learning scripting, I say look at commands.rtf in your Graal folder. That's the way I learned, and other good scripters I know, as well. And if you get stuck on something, just ask questions.
For ganis, it's not at all hard to use Graal Shop. It will probably take you some practice, before you can make good, fluid animations, though.

I've heard iDraw is a good one amongst pixel artists but I myself use Adobe Photoshop. I don't think it's a matter of program really just as long as you have a pencil and colour selector. I only use Photoshop for pixel work because it's the program I'm most accustomed to. Don't listen to people telling you to buy Photoshop because, for what you're wanting to do, iDraw suffices.

wait this isn't graal related, why isn't this in the ngrt or gfx forums. >_>

Zulithe 08-29-2006 04:31 PM

if you want FREE then use GraphicsGale

http://www.humanbalance.net/gale/us/

you need to purchase a license to save in GIF though. But unless you need your graphics to be animated, you should use PNG instead anyway. :)

I use MS Paint....You insult the paint? Gwar!

killerogue 08-29-2006 08:05 PM

MS Paint rules. That's where Stan does his pixeling. ^^

ilovecurry 08-29-2006 11:02 PM

paint doesnt have enough colors

I'm fairly certain MS Paint isn't limited in it's color pallet. Try double clicking a color if you didn't know about that.
