Bomy Island Staff Hiring 07/11/06
 

edit: I've stickied this to let people see it better and to show that we're always looking for more staff to come lend a hand. If you're tired of working on playerworlds where it seems like you're the only active developer, then come work on Bomy Island where we have many active developers and any input or ideas you have will be taken into consideration. :)

The project is coming along nicely and making progress every single day.

It's gotten far enough along where I feel that I can acquire a few more staff members to help out with content and whatnot. I only want serious applications though, so I'm sure I'll only get like 2 or 3 applications that are even worth my time.

Anyway, here's what I'm looking for...

Scripts
Needs to be able to script in gscript2 and fully understand scripting on a server. (weapons, classes, database npcs, etc) Needs to be available almost every single day for at least 3 hours a day.

Graphics
Must show me work and be able to match graphics on the server instead of using their own style of graphics. I'll also expect you to make a requested graphic for me before I hire you. (to rate you on your skill and time required to make it) Needs to be available a few days a week for several hours a day.

Ganis
Needs to be able to pick up on the structure of Bomy Island ganis quickly as it's quite complex and I don't have the time to teach anyone how to do it. Also has to be able to make them within a short amount of time. Needs to be available almost every day but only for enough time to recieve work orders and discuss anything with me.

Levels
Needs to be able to match the level style that I'm aiming for. Needs to have general knowledge of scripts and how to modify some if needed. (not how to script them, just changing them to an updated version or something) Needs to be available nearly every day for several hours a day, as many levels need to be worked on and I don't have the time to wait for someone to come on once or twice a week for 20 minutes.

Of course, the more time you can dedicate to working and being online the better. Communication is a must, so if you have AIM it will help a lot. But I'll also give RC chat rights if needed.

Please don't bother applying if you're just trying to get on the team so you can see the content. I won't tolerate that and if I found out that was the reason, you'd be banned from the server when it opened. There is no problem in wanting to see the content if you plan to do plenty of work and help out though. :)

To apply you can either post here with examples of your work, or you can forum PM me, or you can message me on AIM. I'd prefer if you posted here or messaged me on AIM though, as forum PMs are too slow for my liking.

Are you needing new levels or updates of levels Koni?

Alright.. I have seen Konidias on these forums like 3 times since this post. I guess he doesn't want anyone.

Well I just realized my gold time has expired, so this is my one post for the day. So far I've had a couple applications and I'm checking them out to see if they can hold up.

I might possibly release templates for clothing and such within the next week or two... probably in the graphics forum... so that anybody can make some clothes and stuff and submit them. (of course, I have the right to refuse them if they aren't very good)

When I post that, it will be a good time to request for someone to make graphics that your character used to have... like a hairstyle or clothing or whatever... that way if it gets in the game, you can obtain it and dress like your character on the past 2k1. I have about 25 different hairstyles I'm working on myself... each will come in a rainbow of colors. It's safe to assume that nobody will need to look the same.

Hmm well, if he still has no Gold I imagine he still can't post much. Besides, he never posted too much about 2001 before, but I assume it's still being worked on! Kinda suprised at the lack of replies to this thread, hopefully that doesn't reflect the amount of staff applications!

The application stays open as long as I'm in need of staff.

I have a new scripter/level maker so far. Several people applied for LAT but they either gave up or failed. Same with scripting.

Yes there is still progress being made. I'll try to toss an update on the forum in the next couple of days. :) I'm aiming a release towards the end of September... so there's something to look forward to. :P

I didn't give up Koni, I just got lost in time. I got a bunch of stuff going on. If I free up, I surely will re-apply.

I played graal2001, I loved graal2001.

This remake, I can tell, will be the best! Im sure that if we are finished, the server will rule all servers.

Hm.. KJL and I are highly concidering comming back if 2k1 is re-released. :) Maybe even to do NPC/Levels again just like old times.

Slp, you better come back with KJL right now :P We can use some help. I'm currently the only one (with a bit help of Twusk, he's a busy man) that actively works on the scripts, and together with Konidias I do a bit levels.

Being LAT isn't a hard job in this case either, you just need to make the levels more decent, and give the levels their G2k1 "feeling" back when done (It's what I do lol..). Konidias will think of NPC idea's then, for in the level.. and I will place them.

Anyway, we need staff!

He did do that Zurk, he made a few attempts at it. Mabey Koni can do this, who knows. I'd probably reinstall my client and come on if he does this right. ;)

Should really include what staff you are hiring now.

I was staff for a few days, no thanks to the damn pie.

But from what i got the chance to saw, the progress is rapid, the staff are enjoying making the server and its just pure awesome gameplay and appearance.
