Detail needs a lot of work. Clump your detail rather than spreading it out everywhere. I'm not a fan of the way the grass over grass tiles are used there, sexify your tree styling.

Not trying to say this is good and how everyone should do it but this was my take at a tree level a while back...

Very nice, Crono.

And uh, a path wouldn't have left me much room for detailing. There was already little enough room, so a path would've taken up too much room.

Well perhaps if you uhm removed a few of the trees then the level would look better. Add a path like Crono and it'll be set xP

Well, you can detail in a way to create a "grass path". Attached an example of this.

You can also use the uh little green tiles, also in attached.
