Ship ownership anwser!
i was asked and many others to come up with a ship
ownership plan that allows you to own a ship and yet still keep it not totally protected which would flood the land with unused ships. here it is... When a ship touches land it disappears off the map. it means that players would have to look for ships and most could not be bothered to walk the full lengh of the shore to find one when there is a perfectly good ferry there. plus in battle you can ambush people, sail close to shore to keep hidden off map. meaning players in wartime would have to occasionally partol their waters and have scouts to hunt for danger. Once ship leaves land it becomes visible on map. So they still stealable but... think of how much land there is. and small islands uncharted on map. i spotted loads of tiny islands not on map. there loads of hideable places for your ships so you could keep and own a ship for at least a few months. Everyone knows a place where hardly anybody explore. Also for main island and other islands you can talk to a Npc. there is a harbour at bomboria and other capital port cities such as pirton. maybe 4/5 docks and you pay plat for amount of time you want your ship tied up. max time you can keep is 1 hour as it makes it fair for players. then if you had no plat just hide your ship somewhere like south of bunny island or somewhere deserted like that. loads of places. i bet you all got a list of places you've ventured and your all alone. Thats that. Thank you for taking time to read this all. And good job with the Npc house lights. they pretty nice. ones for player houses be good too. |
That hardly seems practical.
|
huh?
how so?
|
::sails up to the shore, jumps off, goes shopping::
Alright, now I'm ready to go home! ::checks map, blinks:: Where the hell did I park? |
Point Illustrated. Thanks, Shawn.

The docks would have your ships there on the port xD
you can saee them docked there but anywhere else they are invisible on map.
if more people start playing the dock could be expanded too. not in size but when you park the ship disappears and you talk to a Npc and type comand Get Ship and it appears in water. just don't collect it when somebody parked there hehe, it would be very damaged and stuck. thing is though you don't need npc's to do EVERYTHING for you. You got map markers. you can see where you ship is if you place a marker. |
Better the way it is the only problem i have is that cannonballs are so damn heavy even for me with 30 str 100 cannonballs is 100kg weight and is not enough for a serious ship battle.

I like the idea of any container that would reduce the weight of those blasted cannon balls. It should work like a quiver, you can use the cannon balls directly from there if it's open.
|
Ships should play a bigger role. They should be upgradeable and be parked in docks once they are elite enough. Parking at docks should cost money, maybe once a week or such.
There should be an ammo box on ships with cannons but the tradeoff with this is that anyone can come on and steal it. Pirates should be able to get some kind of rope that they throw at the ship next to them and climb aboard. Kthx. |

Ships are invaluable! but...
Ammo box in cargo.. this allows everyone on board to use the cannons and deplete from the box?
Maybe also you have a food cabinet? you can hire NPc crew to fire on your ship and hold wheel for you so they not stealable!! but the food every now and then is depleted as they need to eat. when food reaches 0 crew disappears. if you were to sabotage a ship jumping aboard a ship and taking their ammunition and food would deliver a crucial blow to them! as the crew would disappear. that is of course you use npc crews. this would make people a lot more involved. |
If you guys can script an ammo box, I can make it.
|
But about the ships
we need a sip ownership thing too.
Ammo boxes are good but not vital. u can store cannonballs in cargo hold. but it stil be a good thing. what about the ships? i was told ages ago frigates being made. but i doubt it will as the dev's can't usually be bothered to log on nowadays |
To reduce the amount of ships on the map, ships should be made harder to make. Eitther add nails, cloth and such to the boat, to make it harder. Who ever in their life went up to two logs on the ground with about 60 boards in their pocket and started to grab the logs until a boat appeared? Noone. There should be a gani to make the boat, like there is for everything else (houses, items, crushing rocks, etc.) as well as other materials needed to make it. This would increase building time and then boats would become more valuable, and then work could be done on ownership of boats.

The ultimate ship idea
great idea to improve sailing and ship battling in GK- Customizable ships.
when you first build a ship its a crappy little dinghy with two light cannons. you can add bulk, sails, more decks, more cannons, cannons belowdecks, etc. and for a ton of extra supplies, such as nails, boards, plates, etc. you can add a bell thing to summon a kraken (Pirates of the carribean 2 ripoff? you betcha!). and what ship would be complete without a flag? make your own flag from some set designs! of course, for the massive, multi-deck, multi- cannon ships, it takes a big crew to sail it and is hard to maneuver (gotta have a downside). just an idea, i realize it will take a hell of a lot of work, but it will improve GK vastly and you can determine the color of your masts and ship when you make them. to make a red sail, use rubies and cloth. to make black sail, coal and cloth, to make colored boards, use boards and gems or coal. also, the possibility to create super cannons (oversized and take 10 cannonballs per shot), small cannons (turrets, to kill crew of a ship) and tri-cannons (faster firing, but less damage) and a ships speed will matter on how big it is, how many sails, how much weight its carrying, etc. also, how you make a signature?  |

i dont care how i formatted my post, and true this is not needed, but it would be great especially for boat-battle fanatics out there

Formatting is a very significant factor when expressing yourself. You're here to express your opinions and ideas, not to simply post stuff so you feel nice, right? |
