Map

I've been trying for a while, but so far unsucessfull.
Basically, on V2, DR had a map. Athough I didn't use the level generator to make a gmap, we used a txt file and imgs. So all the levels were linked like a gmap, and everything was fine.
However, on V4, this old type of map is no longer supported, and old level foramats cannot be converted to gmaps. Is there anyway V4 could support both types?

You mean the setmap thing / gmap MAPIMG ?
v4 has been optimized for the auto-mapping feature. Most maps are quite big and would take unnecessary resources, although support for them could be readded some time.

Stefan wishes worlds create a custom map, like Era and Kingdoms. It would allow additional features for maps, which could and would be useful.

Basically, connecting the levels through a text file and setmap. Otherwise DR will be without one for some time.

Use gmap?

I've tried placing the old txt file into a gmap format, it didn't work x_X

Any chance V4 will accept the old format soon? It would save me the trouble of converting every level to a gmap (well over 100, I believe x_x)

I remember when I had to rename about 340 overworld levels and relink (insides and outside).

It's a pain, but it can be done. I had 2 other people helping too. If you aren't renaming, then it'll be even easier.

What I'm doing:
-made a gmap that can store all the levels WxH
-find which gmap levels go with what level from the old map
-fix the .gmap file so it replaces the gmap levels with the old levels
-fix the warps around the edges of the old map to fit it in the new gmap
-done :D should take a week or two, depending if I die from doing such repetitive work or not XD

Well an old setmap can easily be converted into a gmap, I don't see a problem with them.

The layout of DR wasn't a square, and the old txt file was put in gmap format, and it didn't work x_X

The levelnames part of the gmap is either the same or very similar to the old text file way.

I know, but for some reason it would not work. I had the NPC setting it, the .gmap file in the server options, and I restarted the server. Nothing x_x

Also try /find filename.gmap and check if it's a 'level'. (Makes sure folder config is right).

I'll double check that ;)
But I'm probably just going to make my own gmap, and place the old ow on top of it, fix the edges, and expand DR a bit ;)
Besides, the old OW had some mapping conflicts, there was one or two levels that wouldn't line up right, so now i can fix them :D
