I know it has probably been planned to add this (or maybe not), but might it be added soon?

In the actual GaniScript? I'm pretty sure you're already able to do that. But if you mean with images using showani(), we do need that. Along with modifying the zoomfactor of a gani.

yea, the latter. I would use a gani script, but that would be really quite ineffective.
