Sprite Problem

Whenever I try adding a sprite, the images never show up. I've tried 6 different images already, and none of the parts come up on the side when I load them.

What's the problem?
The pictures are in PNG files..

I know for sure that the x,y positions are in the right places...

I am using old Graal Shop becuase I have the exact same problem. It's a error or a glitch or something in New Graal Shop.

I find that usually, .PNG files don't work from MS Paint. I find it easier to use .png or .gif, not .GIF. Yes, I find that there is a difference in if it is capitalized or not.

And make sure you have the transparency set.

.GIF and .PNG are same as .gif and .png. Though they dont allow tranparencies and use low colors. I believe this is right.

.gif and .png do allow transparecies. Transparcies are required or else gani sprites won't show up on graal shop.

There is a difference, though it may be minor.

I find it difficult to open in graalshop if it wasn't downloaded from a server. Just keep placing it in random locations from your desktop to your graal folder and sub folders. Also, try deleting FILENAMECACHE.txt

There is ABSOLUTELY no difference between the case of the extension. Gif files and Png files both support transparency. Gif files need to use an 8bit palette for transparency, while Png files can either have an 8bit palette or be 32bit with an alpha channel.

As far as I know, the graal editor and GraalShop do not yet support 32bit Png files. I would stick with using 8bit offline, and upload 32bit online.

I said .GIF or .PNG dont allow transparencies. There initially the same files as .gif and .png. but with .GIF and .PNG are set to the minimal requirements for the files thus bad color resolution

I have the old graal setup with the old Graal Shop. Only with old Graal Shop can I get images to show. AIM me if you want it. I believe it's legal O_o

So how do you set transparencies?

Yeah, but that doesn't mean you're right about it.

For png, this is untrue. For gif, this is to some extent true, but the term you are looking for is not 'color resolution.' Instead, it's 'color depth.' Colors do not have a defined resolution, as they may occupy any amount of space alotted.

This has happened to me, all I did was put the gfx in the same folder as the gani, and it works :D Of course, it could be happening for different reasons, but if your gfx is in another folder, move it to the one with the gani you're making/editing

The best way is to download it from a server. If you have a server, then put the graphics in the file browser and put the graphics in a level somewhere. Enter the level and you download it.
