What Program should I use?

I am moving from just building levels to making GFX (If you can't tell from my sig. at the bottom that was the first thing I made). Right now I am using Paint and Jasc Paint Shop Pro 7. What are some other programs that I can get for free, that are really good to use for making GFX.

Im not an expert but if you wanna take graphics seriously you should consider investing in a program rather than downloading free ones.
Just my opinion

Hm, I got some "free" alternatives, but they arent "free" if you dont know how to make "free" software "free."

theres like GIMP which is free, I know that but ive never used it.

Psp7 is a powerful tool, learn to use it.

photoshop/painter ftw

Use what you have now... PSP 7 and MS paint, thats all you need for graal. Everything else is practically pointless.. Maybe get psp8, thats what i use.

My list of programs...
Photoshop CS2 for drawing everything
Gif Movie Gear for putting together gif files

MS paint is fine...but you need to work on becoming used to building your own palletes with the program which, personally, I never bothered with. It was too much of a pain and photoshop makes it so much easier

My combo is perfectly suited for my needs....animating :P
Photoshop for viewing each frame layer over layer and gif movie gear for bringing it to life :)

I really don't have any experience in any other programs so I can't really judge Photoshop vs PaintShopPro

I use paint, Serif Photoplus 6.0, and Macromedia Fireworks 8 at the moment.
Paint for the basic shape and colors, Serif Photoplus for the shading with the airbrish tool, and Fireworks for everything else. Serif Photoplus can be downloaded for free, just google it. There are also many free programs out there if you search for them.

I want to see someone use Painter IX for something.

Well, you dont need a good program to make good graphics. I use MS Paint and im reasonbly known for quite good graphics :) Its just how much time you put into your work.

If you're looking to get into Graphics Design, get Adobe Photoshop - it's the standard.

If you just want to make graphics for Graal, it'll still do fine, but so will MS Paint in combination with some software to save as a specific file.
