Well, I've done it again.

As the title clearly states, I've made another level.

Once again; rate it, comment it, enjoy it, or scream and curse at its low quality.

Cliffs too straight, detail needs to be a bit more logical (i.e, clumped), too many rocks in water, nice path.

7/10

CidNight1142 03-31-2006 07:47 AM

Maybe a bit too simplistic. As VT said, try and mix up those cliffs a bit. I agree about the path, definately different. Not a big fan of the buildings. 5/10

Crono 03-31-2006 11:28 AM

Too straight. Improve the detail. Note, I didn't say add more I said make it look better.

The overall outline is good I guess.

4/10

How am I going to get inside? :frown:

The level is very bland, as mentioned already by VT the cliffing is to straight. I'd recommend that you try narrowing it aswell. I'm not a fan of using the jutting rocks in the water tiles either. Paths are ok, I'd expect to see that pattern used inside however. Umm lets see. Oh not much for actual detail either. All in all an average level.

Knew I was forgetting something.

Detailing definitely needs work. Try not to do so much just "put some detail tiles everywhere" and really think about WHY that specific detail would be there. Maybe an area of high grass somewhere as it cascades down the level or something. (Just an idea of what to think about when doing it) But its all too common now aday sfor people to just.. detail randomly and say its detailed. I enjoyed it better when noone detailed anything so that way at least you could come back and detail properly.

Also, that whole bush with the rooshe bottom.. I think is horrible and every PW I see it on I am like, "what do you think you are doing.. thats rediculous" Avoid that!

Personally, I just don't like the rooshe plant top. It just seems too...wispy.

I like the way you used it. Graal doesn't have an abundance of detail, so using alternative styles is not a bad thing.

To much predefined tile use I think. Youll never get cliffs looking good doing that. Path may be somthing new but fact is those tiles arnt rlly built for outside levels.
Too Straight
umm..Houses=doorless (Maybe door is on the side! *shrugs*) Houses are mucho fugly.
Keep working at it, its hard these days to put out good levels with the new age of levels.

Sulukra 04-01-2006 12:39 AM

Coincidence that I just actually fixed up the cliffs a little. Had to make them less straight which required me to do some minor tile changes, as you will see in the new version. And I finally figured out that little trees and rooshes actually compliment each other very nicely!

And I added doors.

Crono 04-01-2006 12:49 AM

Tile errors on the cliff. Look for the grass tile that has the dark corner. Use it on those cliff tops.

Sulukra 04-01-2006 05:29 AM

Where on the cliff, and I did put corners on those pieces?

Mogwai 04-01-2006 12:29 PM

More of a unique concept would be better. This kind of style on the level is very very common.

I don't like it :(. The best advice I can give is: make a new level and don't let it look like this one.

XD lol youll have to talk to him on aim or circle that stuff in a image for him to understand those tile errors. Considering most people dont understand it just because the tiles are so close to each other in looks.

BTW, Cliffs are still too straight.

A building without a door or windows, a house that looks like it's pouncing and worst of all: classic tileset. Oh no, you dinnit.

4.5/10

(i'd suggest working with a custom one, the npulse tileset is nice, but try to avoid the generic houses at all costs. go nuts with poles and roof tiles, you can make spires and things that look good with a little effort.)

Sulukra 04-01-2006 07:27 PM

I'm going to guess that you didn't see the fixed attachment.

Since I uh, added a door.

The cliff in the south-west corner is waaaay to straight.

Eagle 04-02-2006 05:06 PM

I agree with GoZelda.

The cliffing needs more character. Make it random and different.

The tiles you have used on your path is interesting, haven't really seen anyone use it like that before.
