GMAP and copylevel()

IIIIIIIIIIIIIII have a question....

Since the player is shown on the gmap (ie: if an npc's level is set to the actual .nw it wont show up)

If I have 2 gmaps using the same generated NW files.. if one player is on one gmap and the other is on the second one using the files.. will they be completely in..contactable? Will it be like having two different gmaps and .nw files?

Will putnpc2's show up like dbnpcs do (where their level has to be set to the gmap)

So I could have a putnpc2 put on the one gmap file and another on the other.. and they would be completely seperate?

K.. well I hope someone knows this.. or Stefan you can clarify because this would be VERY helpful.

What would be needed for 2 gmaps on the same levels? And they will most likely not be able to see each other, but why not just make 2 folders of the same stuff? Then just update both at the same time.

( Just a suggestion )

Also, I can go test it, actually I will. I'll post results in 5 minutes.

I thought to test it too.. but I am not sure I will be able to think to test everything so I wanted to hear it from Stefan how the software will handle that type of thing.

KuJi 03-31-2006 04:40 AM

Alright, I tested it. I am on 2 different Gmaps, and I don't see each other. I also see all npcs, and everything has loaded.

If you want, I can show you on Graal X. ( I am logged on 2 accounts at the moment)

*Edit* I'll go try putnpc2

Warcaptain 03-31-2006 04:43 AM

Try PUTNPC2 and also try DBNPC if you are actually testing it.

Might want to try triggeraction as well to see if an npc on one gmap can receive the action.

KuJi 03-31-2006 04:45 AM

Alright, putnpc2 only worked with graalx.gmap, and not graalx2.gmap (the new one)

Trying DBNPCs now. (but I guess its not worth it now that putnpc2 doesnt wrk :-( )

Hmm, for DBNPC, should I just try a character that walks around? I believe it should work as you do need to specify which level (gmap) it goes under and the x/y of it.

A lot of npcs do not work, half the time the npcs do not show if you log on the gmap, but if you are warped they show, but do not work with actions etc..

Database npcs do not work properly.

You should request this feature if you would like it.

No, it is expected.

Two different .gmap files are just like two different .nw files.

Warcaptain 03-31-2006 05:39 AM

yes... thats what I thought Napo.. but if it worked like that I could have 2 different gmaps that use the same .nw levels as a reference but players on one gmap can not access or see any npcs/players on that gmap (except for local ones that are part of the level)

but it doesnt work.. and that wont let me do what i want :-\

i hope stefan can work it so that does work.

KuJi 03-31-2006 06:53 AM

Why not just make two folders with the same levels and diff gmaps?

Not sure if that would work, but you can always rename it to:
Gmap 1: gx_a01-1.nw
Gmap 2: gx_a01-2.nw

Then make the gmaps for each one, and when you edit something, upload for both.

Warcaptain 03-31-2006 06:55 AM

i would have to modify the gmap file.. it would be a lot more complicated than just copylevel();
