Playerworlds

wouldn't it be funner if there was only 2 servers. 1 for gold accounts, and 1 for classic accounts. and those two servers were actually updated, and there were quests and other things to do rather than having 23124654897643123168 playerworlds that will probably never hit "CLASSIC".

imagine the playercount on classic (which should go back to "Graal the Adventure") and the playercount on GRAAL KINGDOMS :O

there would be like 300+ people on each server and it'll actually feel like an MMORPG :o

or does stefan not want to do this cus he'll lose money?

konidias 03-27-2006 08:53 PM

First off, it's "more fun" not "funner". "Funner" isn't a word.

Secondly... it's not entirely Stefan's fault. People rent the servers and think they can make entire playerworlds and then they never finish them... Of course it would be better to have quality over quantity, but that's not really up to Stefan.

However, it would be nice if Stefan (or someone he hired) could put together some server projects and get people into teams to work on them. Kind of like how he got people to help make GK. He needs to get a couple projects open and show his support for them. It would really help out.

Stefan does not make the buisness aspect calls of the company, because as i understand it he does not technically "own" it.

Your suggestion would be good if they had many other things to support them monitarily and they did not need money through this "buisness".

Needless to say your suggestion will probably never see light.

Edit:

Koni this isnt a grammar forum I doubt these people care how they type.

Stefan did show support, for Era, Zone, you know, servers which people who mingle in the global community are a part of.

Hey, I'm not hurting anyone by teaching people the correct way to say words. He probably goes around saying "funner" out loud and stuff... Just trying to help him out. I used to make the same mistake actually... that's why I'm correcting him.

Yeah Stefan does support a couple of servers... but he doesn't really do it anymore... and he doesn't really seem to put much faith into people's projects. It's like he doesn't really care that much.

Yeah I do it too, probably not on purpose but it still happens, sorry if it sounded like an insult at you or anything.

Yes I can agree with this, I have a project ive been working on for awhile and stefan did offer "Documentation" but so far all of the documentation ive ever seen from graal has not been that good.

I read on the Wiki about that RP Kingdoms project, which had a few very popular users participating in it with stefan, thats the main point i am trying to make.

Warcaptain 03-27-2006 09:50 PM

Stefan has given lots (in Stefan terms) of time to Mana Realms and is always prompt about support issues we have.

I think playerworlds that are attempting things that are really unique to graal get his attention the most. Always has been this way, ie: Era, Zone.

But then again, it also matters who you know.. I will be the first to admit that. I have been around for years and years and years and have come to know so many people that it isn't hard to find what I need like it was when I started.

I am not trying to brag, just commenting on the way things work here. This is the same way everyone else (not including Malinko) worked their way up.

Developement is more fun than playing to me, so no, I would absolutely hate this, and Graal would never see me again, this goes for many other developers. I like to do every aspect of my server, I like owning my own, and directing how it goes. I disliked the other servers, how they were ran, and their themes, so I made my own. It will make classic, because I am determined to do so. If you aren't then you deserve to lose your server.

How do you know that everyone likes Classic and Kingdoms? Would it be fun to play something you don't enjoy?

It mostly Only Matters who you know, expecially for the last couple of years around here.

What do you mean lol? That is exactily how malinko made his way up, I doubt you were around back when he was using the account Oceanamie at very first, that malinko still probably would be where he is now, but he changed and got rid of a few of the things people would be able to complain more about.

CidNight1142 03-27-2006 11:22 PM

I think Stefan organizing groups to work on certain servers or the ones that are already up is a great idea. If he scouted out the best talent around and had them help out on Kingdoms, Zone, Era, whatever. It'd be like in the old days when a driving force was to get out of your private playerworld hellhole and into the big leagues of working with Stefan and the other globals on major products. It might be a great force in getting quality over quantity and new stimulation in development. Development might begin to improve again and work on cooperation at the same time.

Uhh, Warcaptain has been playing since 1999 or 2000 as far as I remember. Not totally sure, doublecheck with him.

Warcaptain 03-28-2006 12:13 AM

I have been around since 1998.. was still Zelda Online back then.

Went by other nickname though :)

Anyways.. Malinko didnt work for what he got.. didn't bother to make friends and get along with the rest of the high staff just the ones that mattered.

KuJi 03-28-2006 12:29 AM

Ahh, 98, wasn't graal java then? ( I came in 99 ;o )

Flawed plan. Why? Because not everyone likes those servers. Think about all the people on Era for its guns and gangs. Don't have that on Classic. Think about all the people on Maloria who don't want to play GK because they don't want to go gold (For the most part).

So really, all you're doing is killing our playercount.
