Why not do something useful with your talents?
 

I see most of you making useless little characters in pixel art that will never be used for anything, why not get involved in a game project or a graal server?

Because its a hobby, I find this post insulting, thats just my opinion though.

Ya, um...Don't talk about what you dont understand. I used to GFX just out of pure pleasure, and I still do it with stuff I wont use on the server I'm working on.

You're making the assumption that we're dedicating the majority of our time to making these useless characters.

By making the characters we learn more by working problems out. As it is, the majority of graphic artists here are too young to get into serious careers. I think it's nice that they're working to be better artists in the mean time.

As it is I'm busy getting an education. Although I do make graphics for various servers.

Word.

Training your skills directly is way more useful in the long run than making stuff for playerworlds.

That is true... Making anything helps... gives you more experience and maybe new styles

It's enjoyable, same reason some people like playing football and stuff, in a way. I do it to improve my pixel skills and learn new styles so i can become more confident in my work.

Also, majority of playerworlds ask for the same things, everyones pretty much doing modern, medievil now, so its repetative, bodies, baddie sprites, weapon icons, tilesets. No fun sometimes.

Thats true Tom... the funnest servers to work for are the original ones... If I wanted to work on an era type server i would work on era... same with Val or GK.. I don't work on any of them because I dont much care for them anymore... sept Val... I still don't like them but I once tried to get on and find someone who could hire... They banned me for calling a british guy british.. which sucked at graphics anyways..
