I just got photoshop yesterday and I was playing with it, just messing around I made this GK style shield, tell me what you think ^^

I'm assuming pillow shading is the pixel shadow effect of using 2-3 colors on a sequence to give a sort of varying effect of shadow, and im guessing my problem was I placed the shading badly. This is an assumption, because honestly my gfx lingo is lacking. :( After I check out some other examples I'll try to make the shield better, so maybe its useable for something (obviously not GK, becuase even if it was godly, we all know it would never go up.)

There is no such thing as good pillow shading...
Pillow shading is ugly and horrible! DON'T EVER DO IT! :)

Pillow Shading = directing the lighting at the center of something, as if the light is shining from above:

There I tried to do it ascii style - you put the lightest in the center, then just put circles of darker colors around it. That, is the horror of color shading.

Well on the back portion, the outer gray isnt really supposed to be shading, its supposed to be a different color then the center. The center itself has some minor pillow shading, including the handle...to the extent that it could be done as its only like 4 pixels.

Neat, where did you buy it from? Was it on sale?

Why does the shape look identical to the KJ shield?

Mostly the design.

They sell it for cheap at my school book store as like a student deal. So its considerably less expensive then if you bought it retail.
And I realized after it was done that the shape does look sort of similar to the KJ, but the side views are very different, and its really just in the fact that it comes to a point at the bottom that it looks like it.
