Another of these...
Quit developing new versions that are minutely 'better' than the previous version. Quit spending hours trying to come up with new ideas that will attract players: obviously we don't want 3D, we don't want need guns. Instead of spending time coming up with new payment plans, why don't you help out current playerworld, develop them with the players, or at least the more 'professional' ones, like Classic. WE DO NOT WANT NEWER, SHINIER VERSIONS. GRAAL WAS FINE HOW IT WAS BACK IN 2000. WE WANT BETTER PLAY, AND THIS IS OBTAINED BY CHANGE. THE CHANGE GRAALIANS WANT IS NOT IN THE CLIENT INTERFACE, BUT IN THE PLAYERWORLDS.
Call this a rant or whatever, but can someone tell me how successful Graal GBA was? Anyone wanna let me know where the hype and anticipation in Graal 3D is. There is none. Graal is going at a steady downfall because Stefan and Unixmad don't listen to players. Well listen, for once! I think the majority of the long-playing Graal community is interested in more high-quality playerworlds than in high-quality versions and choppy 3D graphics. I've posted so many topics like this. Quit trying to make Graal into a Runescape, an Everquest, it's not going to happen. Please, understand that we don't want this high-tech, sleek looking game client on a Zelda-copy game that is slowly morphing into Grand Theft Auto or something. Can we get some consistancy here? Graal has no definition anymore, it isn't an online medieval 'roleplaying' game, like Zelda, it's an online, never-changing chat room, containing swords, guns, 3D and 2D-mix graphics, uncompleted playerworlds, and oblivious players who shouldn't be paying for renting playerworlds, because nothing new has come out in the game itself in forever. I'd rather see Babylon released once again more than I would like to see Graal 3D be released, and Babylon will probably be more successful. I'd rather see Graal Classic be restored and up-and-running more than I'd like to see a lame GUI on the startup client. Am I the only player like this? |
How very controversial.
First up, the client. I think that was a very good move. If you haven't realised the client now has an update database meaning exploits are patched and hackers who have found ways to hack the client will no longer be able to. The chat system is handy, i've met a few new developers on it and even hired some for a playerworld About playerworld development progress: Yes in some cases there could be more done to speed up the playerworlds progress but it is the responsibility of the server owner. We already have playerworld helpers such as Artanis & Malinko (mind you, both working VERY hard for Babylon and the new OW to come out) and heck of alot more. Graal Classic (stating the name) is based on the classic tileset and the first ways of level development. So it would be a little cruddy to todays standards. I'd like to know how it is turning into GTA though, that did fascinate me. And when did Graal GBA come out? |
Well we helped Era a lot, I guess he means that with GTA ;)
We are currently working on finishing some things on Graal Kingdoms (new bomboria, spells, kingdom fights) and are also working on improving the documentation for playerworlds (Graal Bible at wiki.graal.net, more examples and code snippets are also planned). |
There is no release hype for newer versions of the client; people still prefer the old client to the new one.
I agree with Thallen, we need more servers out there. |
I understand where Thallen is coming from on this.
And he's right. Ever since all these new things started coming out, Graal started to decline in playercount. The active classic servers might need help with the globals, or they might need more attention from the globals with their development (Delteria's dev server still needs to have classic accounts enabled). We don't really need more servers, however; we need what we have to be better. |
Stefan does try, and i dont want to put him down, because ill feel bad later lol.
But in parts of what Thallen said, i would like to see something decent made, a few days ago i sent stefan a PM about him gathering a good development team, and creating a seriously amazing server. Put graal to its maximum, thats what i think would be nice. But yeah, it needs something new, it does feel like a huge chatroom, that i jsut go around creating various graphics for some servers that dont ever move. I also feel that renting playerworlds as slip up the community and developers. |
The problem with people renting playerworlds is that it spreads out the playercount even more.
Renting playerworlds should really only be available as development servers for existing servers, and people who want to make servers should have to develop completely offline first before being able to rent a server. |
then there should be some way to emulate a npcserver offline -_-
and you speak of 'we', whos we? the players? amazing you did ask every single player an everyone of them said they dont want graal 3d? i dont think there should be more servers there should be something new, original and funny instead |
The only real problem with graal is advertisement. I'v seen graal advertise on some websites (for free.. I think) like advertisements done by Stefan/Unixmad. Graal should try to promite itself like an online gamemaker/rpg maker program. It would attract alot of people since there is a big market in this area.
If graal promoted itself like this for both 2d & 3d games than I think that there will be enough room for new games to come out trough graal (Check Thym's post in Future Improvement) Graal as a gamedev software (wich it is.. now), not as a dumb zelda clone. |

I have no problem with the improvements that Graal has made. I would like to see how Graal3D turns out. However, Graal Online needs to lose money to make money. They need to hire 1 or 2 global staff who are professionals and act that way. They need to advertise graal. It seems that they rely too much on the players. However, maybe Stefan and Unix are content with their present income and how the game is ran. If that is the case, then there isn't much reason to change. |

I agree on the advertising thing though, if for no other reason then "why not?" |

roflz@thallen speaking up, plz dynasty posting opinions and caring about graal, where has the respect gone for dynasty =/?
|
Graal 3D is pointless, if someone wants a 3D RPG they can get a professional one like WoW for some money, or a free one like Rubies of Eventide. Graal's no competition compared to those, and if it decides to change direction to shooter there are far better 2D (Soldat) and 3D (Maiet GunZ), free shooter games. The only terrain Graal has a huge headstart is player development.
