Isometric Colab: New One

1 Attachment(s)
As Haunter said we should make a new thread so people aren't confused between the two things we had going there.

As Tom said:
Seeing as the last collab was a great success, i thought id just throw together a none detailed little collab with a none detailed tile before i go out.

Same rules apply,

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...tric_grid1.gif

Ok, well, i thought it would be nice to do something artist which involves everyones contribution, and first thing that came to mind, was a good old collab, which majority of pixel art forums do, and it's fun.

What is a collab? Well, we have a grid, and on each go one of us have, we must fill in 1 of the box's, but they box much correspond to the box it's connected to.

For example, say in 1 box is half a house, in the other box, you'd do the other side of the house.
On each turn, only fill in ONEbox, and do NOT edit anyone elses squares.

When you have done your square, post as fast as you can using, http://imageshack.us/ or http://photobucket.com/ , You can also claim box's by putting your name in it, and/or, posting before hand. By doing this, we save people from doing the same box and wasting time.

To keep the collab nice, try to keep in the same theme and so on, here is the collab i started off,

[NOTICE]

Your allowed to do more than one square over all, just not in your first turn, 1 square and then you let someone else do a square then you can do another, just saying this as someone wasnt sure.

Seph Edit: As a Bonus i've attatched Haunters Examples, since I used one to kick things off. =x.

Yes I know Double post ect ect.

I thought i'd give this a shot but I only used one of Haunters examples =x.
SORRY FOR THE SAND AGAIN :D!

I had mad science in my head. Sorry.

Thought I'd make it a bit of a challenge for some folks. (Make note of the little brain juice tube going underground.) Part of the tile to the left of the tower is hidden, and I'm sorry for that, but it's something that's going to have to be dealt with if you deal with a tall object. I made sure to put the tower on a tile that had white space above it, though. Otherwise it would've erased a ton of free tiles, making this collab a bit less varied.

Oh wow. This will be interesting.

Bold with no imposters, Groovemeister and the tangoing groovy mice, posted by Antago, get their groove on in the midst of sand.

Enticed by their hypnotic grooviness, the mind controller dares to dance the night away.

Feel the beat of the rhythm of the night! OOOOOH YA!
WOOO!!! lol

Well, I gave it a shot, gave the house a nice little outhouse and some purrty flowers. I've never done isometric and the 3d thing doesn't do well for me usually. But we'll see how it goes.

That is a gory square.

Anyway, if his name is floating above his own square, then it is not taking up a square. Because this is iso, we cannot say for certain, and certainly many of us are making use of the Z element which does indeed hide other squares. Therefore, if this is the case, it is not selfish.

If his name were directly above his square it would not be to the right so far... As it is, it looks like it's right on top of the square north east of his, or floating partly above the square south east of his... Either way placing your name in such large text is still pretty selfish... This is a collaboration, not a "Check out the square that I made! Pay attention to me! My square is greater than everybody elses!"

If you want to show which square is yours use a few pixels inside your square to print your initials, like some people did in the first collaboration... The names of contributors are placed at the bottom of the collaboration when it's finished anyway.

At least, that is my opinion. :)

Antago 02-03-2006 06:16 PM

I agree. I thought it was stupid in the last collab for everyone to put their name in it, but because everyone did it, I thought perhaps it was ideal to do so, so I myself put "Ant" in there, so as to keep with the style.

But, there is no doubt that the two top left squares in the top row of the other collab were "selfish" squares as well.

Well, at least ELK is in its own square for now, so it's easy to paint over. I am not sure if it should be right to put things into the collab that hide previous pieces, like the ELK hides the pyramid. So, we should probably address that issue as well, because this is a piece where obviously people are utilizing the Z element quite nicely. But, if it affects an already added rhombus, should this be permissible?

This is a problem that I was thinking about earlier, and it gave me an idea, but it will have to wait for another isometric collab before I can try and implement it...

Have people draw their squares on the big grid, but also as its own entity... This way we can later import all of the seperate squares into something like Flash and create a dynamic collaboration with rollovers or such. :)

(one of my frist tries at pixel art)

edit: oh god @ compression. let me fix that.
edit2: fixed

Draenin 02-03-2006 09:27 PM

I must say, the tiles are working well for whatever we put on them.

Tom 02-03-2006 11:15 PM

Im currently working on a graal collab database, so all past collabs can be viewed ^-^
I need an idea so i can add something to this collab.

Draenin 02-03-2006 11:18 PM

Hey, if you've got VIP, use your webspace.

No new VIP webspace is being activated... I tried to get mine activated at least a month ago... It took a couple of weeks before I realized that it was going to take more than the 24 hours suggested by the login screen for my webspace to activate, so I emailed the support address provided there. Waited a couple weeks, no response, sent a ticket, waited a a bit longer... Finally Unixmad replied and said something along the lines of this...

"The VIP webspace activation is not working. We're trying to fix it. We will contact you when it's fixed."

That was the jist of his message anyway, not exact words... Anyway, that was a long time ago.

With a powerful stomp Mario crushed in the square, and after assuming the existance of the stickman was long over, he left.
Mario has left the grid. :frown:

That Mario...when will he learn that violence is not the way?

You're not really...supposed to change other people's squares. But oh well.

Collabs are like Rice snacks.

They're really not that good, unless you're willing to convince yourself otherwise.

Oh, hey, you modded my square. As soon as I get access to paint, your tower's getting some planes added on to the side. We'll say the terrorists did it.

Quit modifying other people's tiles, dude.
