I'd like your honest opinion on this...

In some thread, I noticed that Valder had posted, which surprised me because I hadn't seen him on here for a long time. So, I post something to the matter of "Hey Valder since when are you back?". This was deleted by Sam with the reason 'obviously'.
Don't get me wrong, this is no kind of personal attack in the direction of Sam.

I just feel that it shouldn't be deleted as it didn't really break any rules. Any input?

Draenin 01-30-2006 12:54 PM

Man... at this rate, there won't be any posts in any threads. :[

Unless the thread was a hello/goodbye thread, I guess this:

If you wish to contact a person, to give them a message or request that they speak with you, always use PMs instead of making a thread purely for that purpose. Furthermore, do not post off-topic messages in a thread with the intention of contacting a person.

I think sometimes the rules are taken a little too seriously

Draenin 01-30-2006 01:32 PM

He didn't break that rule.

Darklux 01-30-2006 01:41 PM

Well this is a bit overdone,
but I hate when people complain about their deleted posts when they didnt brake any rules, because these deleted posts are mostly dumb or wierd.

What a stupid deletion.

These forums are for our ****ing use, not for moderators to hold egotistical dominion over. It seems to be forgotten that these forums are not up for the moderators, they're up for the players. We pay for them, so can we please use them without so much scrutiny? If it doesn't hurt anyone or damage the community, then it doesn't really matter enough to use moderator tools.

If it helps at all, I saw Valder on Graal Kingdoms last night killing stuff.

Spark910 01-30-2006 03:45 PM

For the record, I don't actually support the deletion.

Valder 01-30-2006 04:23 PM

What's up? I'm in the Graal playing mood and since GK is what I am currently playing until 2k1 comes back I decided to see what was up with the forums.

Also, everyone with power on Graal takes everything way to seriously. It's gotten to the point where you can't even joke around with your friends without a staff member diciplining you in some way over it. It's gotten rather sad actually...

Yea, I know. Being crude and exposing other players to material which you agreed not to do in the code of conduct when you created your account and then being punished is totally unheard of.

Why, aren't we trying to be a smarty pants now?

No, that's not what I was saying. When you are doing something on Graal with one of your friend and it's absolutely have NO EFFECT on other people's game playing, then it shouldn't be punished UNLESS SOMEONE COMPLAINS ABOUT IT. And even then, the person should recieve some warning about it so they have a chance to stop whatever they're doing.

Zero Hour 01-30-2006 04:36 PM

"Stealing is only bad when people report it."

Anyways, what I was suggesting is that people constant break the Rules of Conduct, and then when they're punished go "ZOMG WUT?". But yes, people should get a warning, or a very mild punishment the first time they commit a little misdeed.

I'll even give you an example of going overboard. I set my nick to '*Cubes to mess around with Cubes and Sam decides to disconnect me. I asking Cubes if he had a problem with my nick and if he asked Sam to make me change it. He said no. Then I asked Sam about it and he didn't respond, but then d/c'd me again... After I messaged him again he was like "Don't imperinate people. It causes confusion and could be trickery." I even stated that Cubes had no problem, but it apparently didn't matter.
