Concerning the New Rule about Giving Thorough Descriptions about your Thread and what

How will I ever get my punchlines in with this rule? :frown:

What?

Bl0nkt 01-28-2006 05:51 PM

Do you notice the size of my thread name? This would be the estimated size when trying to put every aspect of my ideas into the title.

I'm sure something like "A New Gun Idea" would be good. It's not like people are wondering if the idea's about a chocolate cake. They should read on from there to see what the gun is like.

Nowhere did it say that the thread name had to be a mile long, just more descriptive then just "an idea"

Zulu15 01-28-2006 10:34 PM

I made Darlene make a sticky about the rules, awesome!

Your thread title is overkill and you know it. Be realistic here...

And the big problem is the fact that people aren't even being as descriptive as 'A New Gun Idea' they're just using things like "just an idea" "Another idea" "my idea" or even just "idea".

If haunter says it's right then it's right! (No I'm not being sarcastic{Yes, watch my awesome butt kissing skills})

But hey Darlene, you can always delete the threads.

I was the one that requested this be brought up in the first place.

I suggested that too. :) But a fair chance to redeem evil ways is usually nice.

As haunter said, I would rather give fair warning first, and hope people do as asked before taking harsh steps :)

Yeah me to lol... But yeah I can see Darlenes point about posting longer titles to threads... It does make it easier to see if you want to take your time to read it if it catches you eye.

Dante55555 01-30-2006 01:13 AM

No affense Darlene but i think this is the 1st thread uve talked in that hasnt bin closed xD

The don't ruin the moment. :p

someonesomewhere 01-31-2006 02:59 AM

What's the point of even naming your threads, Hachi? If I see that you're the author of it (with the exception of this thread) I know that it'll be a good idea and contribute to making Zone a better place. No, I'm not butt-kissing like Zulu, I'm stating facts :/
Also, nice sword, Zulu.

Dante55555 02-02-2006 05:47 PM

I dont bother reading the names of the threads anyway i just enter them and start typing useless junk no one cares about.. Which i believe u hate, isnt that right Cor? :p Well um i made my thread have a proper name :D Even added a little note for Darelene

What if it's a good topic, good idea, but then a crappy title?

Or do mods have skillz dat killz to change the title?

Zulu15 02-04-2006 03:25 PM

They do I believe.

Which is spamming, and is against the forum rules.

We can change the thread titles, yes...but why should we cater to members who cannot follow the rules?
I don't mind changing a thread name occassionally, but when people do it continuously (as was happening in the Zone forum), then enough is enough.

icemaster 02-05-2006 02:17 AM

eh....question darlene...

who really cares? lol

i mean...if people complain about entering a thread because they wanted to see what it was about (and it didnt claim in the title) who cares? thats so childish

watd it waste? a good minute of ones life? jeez...

someonesomewhere 02-05-2006 04:05 AM

Yet would it really matter if you wasted one more minute of your time to put a proper title?
It isn't that hard, most of the 4 threads I've started have a proper title.

Hey, go easy. We were all twelve once.

Don't go there. I have a 12 year old, and she is perfectly capable of following such simple rules. It is a choice to NOT follow rules, or to not even read them.

eh...not 12 year olds act the same ^^

like i told you in pms...its not a matter of how simple it is to follow, its in human nature to break rules, im not saying break severe rules/laws, but everyone has broken a rule atleast once...

Ahem well anyway..

Hes using a stereotype, though, the wrong stereotype, the people most likely to break rules and talk in 7337 such are 13 year old MALES. Why do they break the rules? Because it's a game, and they are gamers. Why do -I- not choose wisely the name of my thread? Because I know all my ideas will have flaws, and I don't want to seem ****y, also, there are some ideas, which, if you read the tittle, you will be driven away because it does not appeal to you in any way, for example, if I would have named one of my old threads "Laser, Portable Rocket Launcher, and Small Mortar idea" you can be it woulden't have 1/3 of the posts it has now because people in Zone do not like explosive weapons.

Oh and Touya, in another post you said "who cares if they clicked a topic they don't really want to read?" or something along those lines, well, let metell you a little story...

There was once a kid named Billy, now, Billy was a very inteligent person, he had many ideas he wished to share with Zone and he was also good at constructive critisism of other people's ideas. One day, Billy saw a Thread called "Idea", posted by Dante55555, of course, he was interested in it, so he clicked it. To Billy's surprise, the first post on the thread, as in, the thread itself read "u can shove brum stick up u ass" Billy almost cried, not because there was no idea, not because of the low IQ of the other members, but because he had a 13k dial up connection and it had taken him 20 minutes to open that idea, and it will take him 30 more to go back to the forum main page!!

Dreth 02-05-2006 06:30 PM

Stalker!

Darlene, just because your 12 year old is intelligent enough to follow rules doesn't mean they all are. Heck some 14-and-up year olds can't even stop talking during presentations that are hard enough to hear anyways.

I would imagine that if your 12 year old was disciplined as you discipline the forums, it would be no surprise that she follows rules :P.

Note that I said "she is perfectly capable of following simple rules".
I am not saying she follows every rule, just that she is capable of it...the same as any other 12 year old.
It has little to do with intelligence, and has alot to do with common sense, and attitude.

X swear word D

cry me a river billy, cry me a river

someonesomewhere 02-06-2006 06:38 AM

Poor Billy.

Anyway, I'd imagine that Darlene's 12-year-old either follows the rules exactly, or gets a nice, big plate of angry Supermod when she doesn't.
And besides, unless you're Jesus, you're not going to follow every rule, are you?
And I know I'm not Jesus.

Ah, many apology. I was misundersanding what you said. I figured by saying someone has the ability, you meant they used it, too. I forgot how often people don't do all they can.
Anyways, if a person has common sense, they are much more intelligence than a person who doesn't.

Common sense and intelligence are two separate things.

Zulu15 02-07-2006 09:59 PM

That's what im always trying to tell my friends, they say that I'm smart, I'm really not, I'm dumb as hell. But the thing is, I think with logic.

MisterMastermind 02-08-2006 12:56 AM

I don't have enough room in my head for this "common sense" of which you speak...
