Server News Tab
 

An idea I had for the serverlist would be a News tab.

Here, each server is given a space in which server administrators can post a page of updates and news, using a mechanism similar to the Events Admin functions. It would be an interesting way of advertising updates for servers.

Servers would be listed down the left hand side, and upon selecting the server, the article would appear at the right. If you've seen the help viewer on Rudora (log on and press the H key), then you'll know what sort of layout I mean.

I suppose the largest issue would be moderating the articles, perhaps having a button for reporting the article if it contains bad content, or having a couple of people responsible for checking the articles.

I really like this idea, It's alot better then receiving a PM from the NPC server.

Perhaps Graal could incorporate an ad-server so that a player can hit "f4" to see the latest sale at Victoria's secret.

We could just display different stuff when you click on the server in the server list (instead of displaying the language, description, homepage) ?

I imagine you could, if you created a GuiScrollCtrl and GuiMLTextCtrl which used all the available space when stretched. Problem with that is, is that development servers can't really have people see their updates.

Aeon just added a tabbed window when you login that shows info.
Though a news box on the list would be nice.

Rudora also has a News Reader appear at logon, however, having a central place for servers to post news would be nice.

You mean like the one that's been on Maloria?

Not quite, ours is made using the Gui Controls with the blue theme.

Considering Maloria is not gs2-enabled, it can't use the gui ctrls. However, the one on Maloria Dev is.
