Yes ships are rather buggy. The not being able to lock them thing isnt really a bug, more of a wish for different content. Although when in a ship battle it becomes apparent that an important skill of battling is reconnecting fast when you get glitched off the wheel and cant move.

Raziel 12-12-2005 08:59 AM

Seriously. Before they "fixed" ships, they were less buggy. I mean, when you got stuck you could actually move and grab the wheel again. Now you have to reconnect or jump off the ship. Craziness.

The ships are very buggy now, when i am driving a boat i tend to only hold on to the wheel when i need to turn then i get off the wheel till i need to turn again this does need to be fixed. I wouldn't like to see people being able to lock thier boats, i rather enjoy stealing pirate boats and it sure gives them something to do :)

I need some more exact bug reports, I have not experienced problems when using the ships. Do those things happen with both v2 and v4?

ApothiX 12-14-2005 01:38 AM

About that locking thing.. that's what Kingdom harbours are for.

If you don't want people to steal your ship, join a kingdom and store them in the shipyard.

Please Raziel, Alan and all of you using ships alot, explain the shipbugs, so Stefan can fix it! :)

Draenin 12-16-2005 04:01 PM

What they are talking about is this:

After grabing the sternwheel of the ship in order to steer the ship, you will be fine for a while. Then, there's suddenly some fort of offsynching with the movements of players and ships that causes them to get warped to the front of the ship, where it looks like they are still steering it. However, you cannot steer this way, and the ship will continue to head in the path that you were before you got warped to the fron of it. It used to be to where a person could disengage from the sternwheel by pressing a few buttons, but now that doesn't even help. Also, the rigging in the decks of certain ships don't always load, and a player has to lay down an item and grab it in order to get back up. I've also heard that the above-deck ladders on the sides of a ship aren't working properly anymore, either.

Ok, thanks Draenin! Does that happen in v2 and v4?

Draenin 12-16-2005 06:05 PM

I will test it later on today, I suppose.

CidNight1142 12-16-2005 07:47 PM

Additions to this bug.
Occasionally instead of being warped to the front of the ship, you are warped to the left and right only inches from the wheel but are still in the controlling animation, alike what draenin said in the front of the ship. Also, sometimes the synching problem will just cause your character to stop steering, but still be standing there, causing you to have to push a again to regrab the wheel. Not as annoying as being warped to a different part of the ship, but just part of the bug I suppose.

Admins 12-16-2005 09:11 PM

Ok fixed some stuff in the npcserver for preventing that warping bug, also you can always unsteer no matter where you are on the ship.
I have also fixed the display of the ropes, which was a problem in the gani script.
There is a new third button to enter the cargo room if you have problems with grabbing the black thing.
The missing cargo room npcs might be a problem of disappearing npcs after reentering the room after some time, this is fixed in v4.

Thanks Stefan!

Sometimes I'll be driving the ship, and out of nowhere, my character will shift to another part of the boat, but still have the driving GANI on, and I can't get off or anything, eventually I'll have to Leave Boat by clicking the red arrow and get back on, it's really annoying.

Admins 12-16-2005 11:08 PM

Normally 'A' should work always now, have you tried that?
