Satellite Internet Performance Improvement
Unfortuantely, I moved recently, and the only internet available in my area is DirecWay satellite. I can't even begin to describe how terrible it is, so I won't.
However, to make matters worse, I am routing through a wireless router AND booster. My brother, although he lags terribly, never has the same problems as I do, and generally manages to stay connected through any number of people in a level with him, unlike me. I am assuming that this is because I am a further distance away from the wireless router, but there is nearly nothing I can do to remedy that. Is there any way I can improve my Graal performance? For those of you who don't know, satellite internet can download relatively quickly, but it uploads at a VERY slow rate. I have everything set bare minimum on Graal settings, but my computer is brand new. I can usually observe people moving normally up to about 6 or 7 people in a level, and then they get very very choppy. Anything beyond that, everyone will simply freeze and I will lose connection. I would really appreciate any suggestions. |
Anything > Satellite.
There has to be some sort of dialup near you even if it is AOL... |
If I was in your situation and the only option we had was AOL, we wouldn't have internet. :whatever:
My dad hates AOL so much, even when I install AIM on his computer (when I have to use it) he gets pissed because "AOL changes your computer!! etc." And it just annoys me because he knows jack**** about computers compared to me. Anyways, fortunately for me we have RoadRunner, I suggest you pray they start to give service in your area. ;) |

I just posted a reply for Thallen on that topic, read that. If you do not have those settings, maybe you should try them. Good luck. : ( |
I was lucky, I was going to get the exact thing as DirecWay, just from a Canadian provider, luckily I found a satillite service which is sattilite UPLOAD and DOWNLOAD, so your not running off of it only 1 way. If I was you, I would go dial up.
http://www.inetlink.ca/ I live outside the city, so originally dial up was my only choice, so I got this. Expensive, but the 1 mb upload 1 mb townload is teh awesome. See if there is anything in your area like this, works good except if the power goes out at your station :p. |
