56k

Ok, I have a couple questions on how to speed up Graal on my old 56k. It's not that delay type of lag that I've got, it's the lag where you move slow, and it can take 2 or more seconds for your PC to process a tile...

If I renamed state.png and sprites.png, hence not showing them in-game, would that reduce lag/loading, or would the game still be processing these stats, just not showing them, which wouldn't do anything at all?
I'm on Windows 98 - does going fullscreen still put more processing usage on Graal, or would that just lag me more?

It's your computer specs, not your internet.
What're your computer specs anyway?

in case you are, DONT USE TRANSPARENT WINDOWS WHILE GRAAL IS RUNNING i get this kind of lag when i do that.

use 16 bit color, not 32. I know that "move lags" me up for sure.

In General Options. Reduce the size of the font you see. Do NOT use lights. No sounds. That should help quite a bit. Also, YES having the screen maximized will help tremendously.
If worse comes to worse.
Even removing the level linking will help. Removing downloadable gifs. Do not SAVE PMs. *shrugs* it'd help. Lol

Okay, you're just weird. How the hell is turning off sounds going to help any? It sounds like you just looked through F3 options and started listing stuff for no reason.

If he's still running on Windows 98 chances are that his sound is done through software, not hardware, meaning that turning it off will lessen the load on his hardware. :)

To an unnoticable extent unless his computer his already bogged to hell from other things.

Sound is maybe taking 5-10 Mhz, I don't think it will help to turn off sounds, except the sound driver is heavenly bugged. It would suggest using v4 and update your graphics driver

As contego said, I would maximize the screen. My friend gets this lag all the time and maximizing the screen helps him alot and sorta prevents lag.

Really for all those questioning the sounds.... Yes this will help, not the 5-10Mhz as Stefan claims. An example is the people who have the microphone cause quite a bit of lag to another who have sound on. Try it and see if there is a difference. : ) Btw thanks for noticing me being weird <3

And listing things for no reason? Lol I have had mine set up this way the entire time. I have a slow computer but I am very fast even with many players in a room. Ask people who spar me what they think of my speed. But thank you for the compliments again, too kind... ^^

I'd reply: "Haw, N00b", but that's rather unexplained.

G4 doesn't really help the computer, only treats the clinet lag from what I see. I'm running a 2000 professional, and 128 MB RAM, and a ATI PRO AGP TURBO 2X gfx card. G2 is actually BETTER. I can'tturn off the light effects anymore, so I'm in the same scenario you're in.

Unfortunately... And yet still fortunately, Stefan's helped me add a Graphics Driver to my computer, but it's like strapping a rocket onto one of those fancy crystal chandeliers. Now, when I run G2 or EVEN G2, my computer crashes. Not that I care anymore, because now I speed through those damn overanimated ads with ease and laglessness. Instead, I play Graal on a Pentium 4 laptop. Awesome. Thanks, Stefan! You've put the TURBO on the GFX card! (Seriously!)
