A nice simple photoshop overworld tutorial
2 Attachment(s)
Thought i'd share the knowledge, things would probably come out better if you did it by hand anyways.
1) Create a new image of any size. 2) Set image mode to grayscale. 2) Set your colors to black and white. (Push D) 3) Filter > Render > Difference Clouds a couple times (2 or 3) 4) Filter > Stylize > Trace Contour 5) Play with the settings until you get seomthing you like. 6) Set the image mode to RGB color, and color it in. 7) You could generate these and detail them later or use them as a plan. Here is a quickie I made, not the best, but good for coming up with an overworld or something like it. |
Im a photoshop newbie, ive really only started using it and I cant figure out the fill tool(If there is one), im used to the simplicity of paint. This is a great tutorial. I attempted to make a cloud, do step 4, then redo the cloud over it and it looked pretty neat :)

not sure I would like it if OWs were made like this but it looks like a good idea kinda. Very good for people who dont wanna go back over and tile the outlines of there islands.

i think oasator's map looks really good. Perhaps this could have gone in the level editing forum, thats where map stuff usually goes I think. But it works here too.
